Bring a good set of binoculars, and you'll always see people on the sheer rock face climbing it. Nope.

This steep section is known as Old Priest Grade. It's a 17% grade & goes straight down.
The bypass for cars & trucks is over in the distance. The smell of brakes is always in the air here.

Central Pacific Coast Tour

The last tour of our ride season is the closer, the finisher, the culmination of over 10,000 miles spent riding together.

I have spent over 30 days on the bike this year, and the last tour of the ride season is an exhale. Always busy, always full and always a North meets South ride as it’s become tradition to ride the Central Coast Range in between San Francisco & Los Angeles.

The group meets up in the South Bay at Mark's house. His garage is full of Triumphs. I have been offering this motorcycle tour for nearly 20 years but keep changing subtle things like the route, stops, and our base for the weekend.

My Hayabusa has been sold & I'm looking for another one. Parked my TL1000R for this last ride of the season while Mark offered me one of his bikes. I'll take that red one.

Mark rolls out his 2-stroke RD that was recently restored.

Remember two-strokes - can never forget that smell. And the sound.

It's one of Mark's original bikes, he still has it.

Up and over Hecker Pass towards the Coast

Dropping into Watsonville, farmland as far as you can see, which isn't far as we're a few miles from the ocean, and the marine layer is slowly burning off.
