Out of the mountains and back in the flatlands

Everybody safe and sound

Awesome day of riding in the Foothills. 7 hours on the bikes and just shy of a 300-mile day.

Next day we had a visitor, Chris showed up bright n early

Time to go in search of twisty motorcycle roads

But it didn't take long - Road Closed #4

All that yellow

Fountain Springs is a remote intersection surrounded in nothing but ranch land, but it's the start of Old Stage Rd.

The word 'old' plus 'stage' is the giveaway of what's in store.

Lots of sand in the road

piles of it in some places

It was time to take a break and enjoy the Super Bloom

This color is really unusual for this area, we're north of Bakersfield and it's normally a very hot dry landscape of ranch land.

Round Mountain Rd

The mountain is covered in oil wells

Single lane and very sandy, but twisty

Then this came barreling at us, it was best to just pull the group over and let him pass. Oil rig on wheels.

Round Mountain is never this green, it's normally brown, brown, brown

 

[pashnit]
