Yep, that would work for you I suppose....
It's the other 299 odd million that need some sort of government to take care of all the little things so they can get on with their lives.
I know here there are many private companies contracted to many levels of government to do specific tasks..
I'm not a big fan of our current government but know they have a sometimes impossible job trying to keep this country together.
Like I said govt is for people who can’t take care of themselves

Yes... those of us that looked into and found the disposition of those grieving wives, family members and close friends that wanted answers could see and understand why. They made a stink about why an investigation wasn't launched soon after the dust cleared. ( 400 plus days later and strict no camera rules during the cleanup helped keep plenty evidence from being recorded though plenty of it was ) The MSM would't report it. The reports of bomb explosions well before the collapse and again before Bldg 7 went down in the afternoon wasn't lost on those people. You can still hear it on YT video last time I was there checking it out. Also, if you were check out Eric Lawyer, a rank and file NYFD firefighter sometime that was there that day you would discover how much department protocols and rules were not followed in the aftermath.
The one lawyer appointed to handling each settlement case one at a time was scorned directly by many of those wives. They knew the money was as dirty as the sky was blue that morning because of what they had learned through the NYFD and NYPD that they were close to in the weeks and months after the fact.
You seem to think normal people are in charge... benevolent leaders are far and few between these days . Just look at what's sitting in the WH right now with his well known exploits that are creepy. In fact, that is one of his labels... Creepy Joe.
He also has no problem with shutting off the valves that supply energy to the nation and directly causes inflation while finding ways to spend 6 trillion dollars we don't have at the same time.
You do know that a "slush fund" exist for sexual grievances that when discovered or reported that will cover those Congressman and Senators that can't keep their hands to themselves? Right?
You call it being mired in conspiracies? I call it calling a spade a spade. When people get away with ugly acts that kill and maim people it emboldens them to do it again... never let their crimes be overlooked because it makes everything decline over time and that affects the most people that mostly comprise the middle class. If you don't believe that just look at what's happening with newly arrested criminals being released back onto the streets in the bigger cities.
Or live like human beings in a society....and there are lots of these people...
....and there are lots of people who can't take of themselves 100% unless they live totally off the grid in some sort of utopia setting.

Yea, I think somebody is envisioning some sort of utopia where all the gun nuts (primary source of training - YouTube) are going to be able to feed themselves off the land (stray cats and iguanas?) and just be left alone to their own devices (Russia and China won't be coming?).

I haven't participated in this thread. Sometimes it terrifies me to realize who votes in America.
Here's the tough part. Sprinkled into these thoughts they post, are little kernels of truth.
For instance, yes we had planted assets giving us Intel on 9/11. They weren't part of the attacks. But that get contorted into these stories.
Our prison systems for example, we are looking at going to a privatized model.
Elon Musk is privatizing our Space Program.
This leads to these ideas that we don't need a govt., we can do everything by private companies.
It's one thing to not want to be sheep. But stay off the internet for your research for the truth. Because it's making you sheep.
So many disconnects from the reality in this thread.

I had a discussion with one of my former colleagues about this when he stopped by this morning...he was of a mindset of having government to look after some things but not all things...
I agreed and said the government has it's uses to look after the little niggly things such as human basic needs....and nowadays those needs are quite a bit more complicated than a 100 yrs ago....
But in many cases the government is getting too big for it's britches and in many cases does whatever the heck it wants without any sort of referendum to have the masses help in the decision process...
He agreed and said if the government decides to hand out billions of taxpayer money to any foreign entities, the taxpayers should have a say...whereas now we don't.

Well we need the government to provide some type of oversights. As an example, the EPA is needed to make sure "profit" doesn't supercede safety.
Some basic human cored safety and health should be assured.
Laws should be structured and crafted and adjudicated fairly.
And a National Defense. Meaning a capable military.
And more things. But this is just to make a point.
Has it over stepped? Absolutely.
Has it become to powerful. You betcha.
Do we need a government? You better believe it.
But it needs to be the people's government. It has miserably failed at that.
Those countries who have no or little governmental oversight or involvement are next to uninhabitable.....they are just like "Lord of the Flies" where there are no rules and the strong take what they want...no services, roads suck, health care sucks, emergency services suck, power grid sucks, grocery stores (if any) suck....basically the whole country is a lot of suck....

Be we are heading more in that direction than away from it.
I can relate to this, on a couple of occasions I was the last person to talk to a couple colleagues who took their own lives...I had all the training in suicide awareness and prevention yet they were able to fool me....I came to the conclusion that if someone is determined to take their life, they will regardless of influences placed upon them. The people left behind suffer as well....
I personally was having issues after retirement and my wife is the one who pointed them out to me....I heeded her advice and engaged our veterans affairs to get into therapy.....I did 4 years of intensive therapy and it saved my life...my former profession was quite intense and took it's toll....
My Hayabusa was bought as a therapy bike so I could keep my head clear...
The hard part of the two colleagues I was mentioning is they were hardened combat soldiers who were tough as nails....both had kids and a wife, both were divorced.....both had all the same suicide prevention/awareness courses I had.
There were several other suicides of people I knew but I wasn't in close contact with them at the time of their demise.
One guy while we were deployed overseas went to our quartermaster to ask for the cost of a 9mm round....he wrote a note and included the cost of the 9mm round as he didn't want to owe the military anything....

Yes... everywhere we have conspiracy nut jobs as some of you guys here think some of us are. Here we have Redacted documents from an event over 20 years ago. You can choose to watch it... but... reading the comments gets you to the point pretty quick in the minds of thousands of people that think invading Iraq was a purposeful misdirected act of war... and was done on purpose and a big mistake. It oftentimes takes years for the truth to surface when powerful bad actors carry out the profit motivated and power aquisistion based agendas.
