Advice about freeway riding?

Sorry for rambling on... What I want to say is that no logical person should give you a ticket for speeding just a little bit. If you feel cars are crowding around you, just speed up a little and leave them behind. It's better to have cars come at you from the front than sneak up from behind... And seriously, if you don't feel safe when riding in the highway, don't get on it. Better safe than sorry.

I prefer to go 145MPH on the freeway (495) and about 125MPH on 270.
At first I thought you were joking but your post seemed serious enough.  Was that a one time moment or normal commuting??  I GOTTA move where you are!  I admire your abilites but question your speeds.  If I EVER tried something like that in MY town, my license would be gone and I'd be in prison faster than you can say "Multi cop shoot out at I-80 and 35"!  Do you REALLY get away with your posted numbers more than twice a year??
He is SO full of dookie. The traffic and the pavement sucks too much on those interstates. I'll believe it when I see it, and I'll visit him in the lockup and everything.
I don't want to get in a big debate over this... Of course I REGULARLY ride on 495 and 270 at speeds exceeding 125MPH... That is not important. What is important is that you have called me out my friend. So, I say, the gauntlets have been removed... I guess I will have to go riding with you and show my "riding style" to ya.

I can understand you having a tough time believing that I drive fast on our highways because of their condition, etc. But, I feel it is unfair of you to say that I am full of dookie when you don't even know me, let alone ride with me. I have 5 riding buddies that can attest to my flagrent disregard and sometimes idiotic behavior.

I suppose what this long-winded post is saying is, "come out and play Wiley!"

Okokok...I BELIEVE you.

I just don't have your kind of nerve, that's all...I just can't seem to avoid all those troopers hiding under the overpasses up there on I270, and the roller coaster over by the spur and that meat market in NoVA just make me queasy at rush hour.

Of course, at 3am, it's an absolute blast, what with six lanes going nowhere in particular most of the time. We should get together some time, but I bet I'll be holding the camera (I always blow the bail money by the end of the month).

Say, btw, I just got a stud adapter for my RAM mount that I was using for my GPS. That means I can mount the MiniDV behind my windscreen. Hmmm...

I ride like every one is trying to run me over...I never ride next to anyone, I don't tail gate, and I don't let anyone tailgate me. I guess you can call it, defensive driving. I use the power of my Busa to my advantage and how sweet it is!

NICE!

I have been looking for a nice DV lens that I can wire to a camera mounted in the hump. I am tired of the camera taking up my extreme crouch area.

We do need to hook-up! You should come down to the BRP in NVa with us. There are always lots of park rangers there... But, they normally can't catch us.

Warm weather is upon us! Let's ride.

I should mention, I have been trying to tone down my addiction to adrenaline by reducing my speeds and fast lane-splitting. I feel that it is reckless and dangerous. I am trying (truely trying with all of my heart) to slow it down and ride more sane. It is very hard when my riding buddy is bsrigley, since we are constantly pushing each other.

See ya soon,
Vaughn

Hehe... Let me write you a list of things that I have gotten pulled over for, and gotten away with (with NO TICKET):
Jeez! I pretty much get pulled over for riding ANY vehicle on the road if I do ANYTHING slightly over the top. I don't understand it. YOU DON'T WANNA RIDE NEAR ME. So, I'm not just paranoid, I'm HYPERPARANOID. [waaaah! dry piss moan] sucks to be me bla bla bla

C'mon Revlis...
You promised you wouldn't tell anyone that I told you!

I went out today and did a little riding. I don't think I went over 100 the whole time, mostly because my front wheel was pointed straight up most of the ride! Wheelies are my other guilty pleasure and after riding a few on the SV when the ripper and I were breaking them in I just had to get it out of my system.

All good!! I ride at 85-140 around the SF bay area. Always in the left 2 lanes and watch out for the cager who is aguing w/ his boyfriend...

As others have said, ride in your own comfort zone and be safe.

I was not too fond of the freeway here in LA for a very long time. I loved riding in the bay area because the drivers seemed a little more sane and the roads were much safer to me, but now the LA freeways are nothing really.
you just have to ride on it more and more....... you'll get used to them in no time.

So BS I couldn't let it go... He He, Yeah personally I still haven't gone over about 55, still Skeered... Besides speeding is dangerous. And Illegal, I would NEVER do anything that breaks a traffic law...

Heh, I am still a Busa Wheelie Chicken though... Just something about the length and mass of the thing has convinced me to give up the quest for the balance point. Just not going to do it. I get pretty decent power wheelies exiting some of the corners out in my playground though, and of course I get the 1' footers when snapping the throttle open, but that is about where I am happy. Besides I haven't gone to class and gotten that "Certified Wheelie God" paper work...

Back on topic, I have found that the safest way through rush hour interstate traffic is to keep about 10-20MPH faster than the heard, and I search out them breaks in traffic where I can isolate myself with about 300 yrds front and rear. Sometimes they do not come up but usually I can find that cushion, when I do, I tend to just ride that cushion, even if it means going the speedlimit.

I can't wait for the Lynchburg ride so you can do a couple of those 100+MPH wheelies!

That is gonna be an eye-opener for a couple of peeps.

Hello,
I know its kinda stupid question.
1) if im going on speed limit, everyone's passing me which is kinda scary.
2) If im riding in the fast lane and staying within speed like, people
start to push me (Scary too).
What do i do? I don't want to go over limit cause u know.

Thanks in advance for the Advice!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I'm late on this one, and forgive me if it's been brought up already, but I didn't see it.

The factory speedometers are off by about 7-9% high, so if you are running at the speedlimit as indicated on your speedometer, then you are going WAY TOO SLOW.

Have a friend verify your speedometer by riding next to them on the freeway...don't be skeered.

Once you know how far off it is, then you can ride accordingly.

EDIT: BTW... Look at my signature...THIS MEANS YOU!
