And its happening - Gen 3 teaser from Suzuki

I've heard no official announcement that the ZX-14R will be going out of production, at least not in the US. If the 2021 busa goes up to a 1440 cc engine, that will be a reason to not only keep the ZX-14 in the game but to increase it's power.

Some of the early H2 v liter bikes videos were less than impressive with H2 getting beat by or barely winning against the S1000r and other liter bikes making about 200 hp. Going by the stock hp numbers, it's not surprising. How does a supercharged bike make only 5-10 more hp than a NA bike with the same size engine? Of course, if you're going to mod, the sky is the limit. My feeling is you shouldn't need to mod a supercharged bike so it can beat an NA bike especially if the supercharged bike is already 75 lbs heavier and 10-15 thousand dollars more expensive. They shouldn't even be in the same league stock v stock.
Makes perfect sense to me...

Now if Kawasaki was allowed to make the H2R street legal and make it price competitive, there'd be a whole different matter.

IF is a big word though...

Hopefully the new Hayabusa will challenge it.

I wonder if Kawasaki will have a gen 3 ZX something or other ready to go just to be vindictive....
A 1440 cc Hayabusa will be better than a 1440 ZX-14 if the comparison carries oer from my experience with the 1340 busa v the 1352 ZX-14. The Gen2 busa with a smaller engine feels more powerful than the 14 with a bit larger displacement and the dyno numbers do in fact show the Gen2 busa has a few more hp and couple more ft lb more torque.

I'm sure Kawasaki has something ready to outdo an updated Hayabusa. It's been 9 years. The 14r R&D has paid off. The only hope that this is the end of the oneupsmanship is that Kawasaki Heavy Industries might have sold out the motorcycle production to a smaller company. At least I heard something about that a few weeks ago. I kind of hope it's true because I would like to own the best and be done with it. I'e got more important things to spend money on now.

Even at 100cc down on the ZX14R, the Hayabusa can still hold it's own...surprisingly enough.

If the Gen 3 is indeed a 1440 it should be able to dominate...with any luck Suzuki lightened it up, it would be nice if it was closer to 500 lbs stock...

At either rate, it will be a great starting point for modifications.

Yeah, IF! IF they could also make the H2R scheduled maintenance less rigorous too! I have a little feeling there's PR and legal matters to attend to as well. Having lots of 300 hp bikes out on the street would stir up quite a controversy. They've gone up only about 30-40 hp in the last 10 years. I think the most cost effective and interesting thing to do for me is to build what I already have. Maybe I'll get a new bike someday but keeping current on the fastest stock bike available is beyond my means.:(

Yeah, I saw a video of back to back top speed runs with a 14R and a Gen2 busa. Using the pause button and video running time to measure the ETs between the two, they were close enough to be negligible for my money.

Yes, that's the problem, a 1440 motor will probably be better to turbo than a 1340 which makes me want it. Damn bikes! :banghead: I've vowed to live in the past with what I have already bought but it's getting harder to resist updating.

I'd laugh if there was a Suzuki rep trolling this site and having a good chuckle themselves...

Nah I am going the other way I think :D I am even thinking of selling my GEN 2 ZX14 and buying maybe a full blown sports bike 1000cc or a heaven forbid a GSXR 750 :D One thing I am sure I am going to miss is the fat toque these big 4 engines produce I hope i don t regret it

1440 near 500 pounds where do I sign :)
It would dominate then for sure...if the renderings prove true, it looks as though it has some sort of lighter rims on it...

I'm surprised the H2 isn't lighter than it is..single sided swing arm, trellis frame and such should have made it lighter...

I’ll guess a 1441 with factory head studs, making 206hp at the wheel for a mind boggling $14999.

i gleaned this from Eire rider and his local dealer......

I also received a reply from an email I sent to a dealer in Ireland please see the comments below
Hi Pete,
Thanks for the email. The rumours are in fact true and we will have it towards the end of March. We havent seen much as yet only rough concept drawings but do know its a 200bhp, 200 MPH plus bike with a serious electronics package.
Suzuki Ireland will be having a virtual launch for them towards the end of February and I'm sure they will be allocating launch tickets to us and customers to have a look, the bike will retail at approx €19,875.
I am keeping a list of peopleand email addresses for any details and will gladly put you on the list.
Cheers
Niall

I wonder if @michael parris heuberger will feel the need for a 1440 engine? I think he's even implied the 1300 cc Gen1 motor is a little better for turboing than the 1340 Gen2. Maybe I will get a Gen1 instead of a Gen3. A hundred fourty ccs smaller but still faster with all the work?
I Mythos. I have a Gen 1,but I have a gen 2 cranks stroke. So I am at 1340cc. I have a custom Marine billet stroker crank. I have custom C P Correlllo rods and custom JE pistons as I use the stronger Gen 1 20 mm pistons pins. And one of the of the classes I will run in is 1000cc to 1350cc.

There is pretty strong evidence that isn't the case. What is your price?
I know, you are right. That is where the entire automotive world on 4 wheels is heading though, fuel consumption and emissions. Around $18,500
