Another frame slider gone bad

Didn't know there was such a thing. But that doesn't help the situation though. Whats the cost for a no cut? and how do they mount?
Click on the link I gave you a few posts back. They're expensive but still less than ½ the cost of just one messed up fairing. They can also be removed or transfered to a future Busa and you're not left with gaping holes in your fairings.

I was a bit fearful of the mishap when I read on your first post that the dealership was installing frame sliders. Most dealerships have never installed sliders on a busa. Most people don't ever install sliders on the busa. Although it's a tough one, the bright side is, it's only a grand for new lowers and your are back in business. Or, if you you have not taken the bike from the dealership, tell them to keep that one on the floor and give you another one?

The instructions are generic and the upper engine mounting bolt would be correct in most cases. However, as we all know, it's not the correct position for the busa. Sorry about your troubles. Just chock it up to a thousand dollar mistake. I wouldn't leave it like that, it looks like dung!

Good Luck with the dealership!

I've been in contact with the company that makes these sliders. And the instructions they gave me were completly different. They just say motor mounts. Anywho I've emailed them pics from here and asked if this was the correct location of the slider. Hopefully they agree and I should be home free with the dealership. And yes it does look like dung!!

Actually, does anyone here have the Pro-tek delrin frame sliders on thier busa? If so I'd like to have pics of it!! I should just have everyone email the dealership with pics of thier frame sliders and ask if they are right and everyone else in the world is wrong?

I'm telling you, just because they can't read, understand, and produce what the directions say... doesn't mean you should pay!

I mean, didn't the guy step back before cutting the fairings and say, "That can't be right. If this were my bike, I wouldn't do that. Maybe I should call the owner"? Poor worksmanship and poor customer service are no excuse for it coming out of your pocket brutha!

Gst--I really feel for you, man. I'll bet that even if you gave them the right location, they may not have done a proper job--just check the threads on this site, and you'll see how precise the measurements have to be. If I were you, I'd demand that they replace the panels and keep the sliders (call American Suzuki if needed). And then find a Busa owner who has installed their own sliders, and give them a few bucks to help you.

I will post the email address if they try and say they did nothing wrong the next time we talk. I'm busy with work and will contact them in the next day or so to try and resolve the problem. Thank again all!

True very .........ing true......... I mean its mounted on that top frame rail. Looks like the fairing would hit the ground before the sliders would too.

PS A good, permanent post for the site would be to mark a "correct" installation procedure (with pics), so that users could print it out and take it to whomever as instructions.

I'm in Crawfordsville... about 45 west of Indy. I'll check and see how far it is. The stealership is in Peru, IN.

Made the dumb mistake of have the stealership install frame sliders on my new 0 miles 06 LE. They put them way high on the frame. I'll post pics but they installed them in the same location as this guys.

Now they are telling me that the instructions said to put them there. The upper engine mount bolt. I'm furious.. sounds like they don't want to replace my plastics!! I even sent them like 20 pics of bikes on here that show where the sliders go. They are like " just because everyone else's are mounted there doesn't make it right, and all the manufacturers are different" So any help in this matter would be great. I will post the name of the manufacturer when I get it. He said he is going to fax me the instructions. I can't believe the instructions would say to install them there.
hey man i really feel your pain...
luckily my dealer were fine with fixing their mistake.
if i can help in anyway let me know buddy.
i can give you my dealer info and maybe you can have your dealer contact them and see that they did do it wrong.
good luck!

They should run very close to the fairing fastener....

If it was warmer out I'd ride down there and go into the dealer with you. I'd bring in a padded "Special Ed" helmet and tell the owner it's a gift for the moron that installed those sliders.
Any pics of the install yet or do they still have the bike?
