Anyone w/ aftermarket battery still experiencing 'hot start' issue?

I'm glad the problem was finally solved.
I will go to the service as soon as possible and do a software update.

Think I'll get back to them on Monday.

Ok, so I rode to the dealer and spoke to the mechanic directly. I suggested to him that he hadn't applied the update (like he previously claimed he had). He admitted to me that during the service he hadn't used the SDS to check if there was a software update. He made the comment that this is not something they automatically do during the service! I pointed out that on the Suzuki website software updates (if available) are guaranteed as part of the service. I also reminded him that I had specifically requested this be done before the service last week. At this point he went quiet, and I didn't want to push the point too hard, so I asked him to get the update done ASAP. He agreed to update the software next Monday as he is totally booked out today. Funnily enough, just as I started the bike the bug kicked in right in front of him and his colleague: meow, meoww, meowwww, kaput! They acknowledged the hot start problem, claiming this was the first time they'd witnessed it. Anyway, update booked in for Monday. Hopefully, this dealer will be more attentive to this problem with other gen 3 'Busa's that get serviced at their busy workshop. Moral of the story - grill your mechanics/technicians and make sure they're doing their bloody jobs. This is why I have a problem with friggin dealers man.

Please post back. This will help a ton of people

Yeah, would love to know if there's a software update that fixes it, and exactly what it changes.
Timing? Air/fuel? Throttle position?

Since i changed the oem to the Pulse Full Spectrum i havent had any problems.

lmao
So one thing fixes your Gen3, fortunately, but not all of them...so one issue now appears that it can be the result of multiple causes(wonderful).
And most Gen3's seem to get several of the ever growing list of problems, randomly, or always.
Every time I want to go buy a Gen3 I just read these threads, lol, and remind myself how mad I would be if I had to deal with any of this on a new or like new bike.

I will. The day the software update is scheduled for has a forecast of 36C/97F, so by the time I get it home the motor will be cooking. I'll turn it off for a few minutes, attempt a restart, and post the outcome.

my bike didnt do it at all today, despite warm starts while at gas stations and whatnot. i took my girl who has her own bike to palomar today, was gone something like 5 hrs and not one bad start.

i'd almost like it better if it did it consistently.. would be easier to get the factory to do something about it.

Ok, here's an update. My mechanic attempted a software update via SDS2 and there is no option to update. He even showed me the interface on the SDS2 as it was plugged into my Gen 3, and he went through each item in the menu (it's very similar to my Woolich software). No options anywhere for software updates. He theorised that other workshops might be using the SDS2 to reset adaptions, but they're definitely not updating software. He checked the Suzuki service bulletins and there's nothing about a software update. He also contacted Suzuki (Australia) and spent some time on the phone discussing the hot start issue. They even sent him a video of a black gen 3 with the issue to verify if it's the same as mine. Turns out, the fix isn't software, but hardware in the starter motor. The mechanic's put in a warranty job for me and when the parts arrive, he'll install them. So I'm wondering about those forum users who've said their mechanic installed a software update to solve the problem exactly what was done. Now it's possible my mechanic isn't using the SDS correctly - unlikely, but possible - so if there's anyone with any knowledge about how to update the software on the Gen 3 Hayabusa I'd love to hear from you.

so its basically like that other guy said, with all those pics he posted of the starter stuff showing the raggedy clutch plate piece.. the problem is a physical one, its not vapour lock or some other such nonsense.

Actually, vapour lock is a factor, and in some gen 3 the starter torque limiter assembly (the parts being replaced) are out of spec, and it "slips" too much when hot/vapour locked causing the issue - I'm not sure what I've written, just what I've been led to believe. And yes, it is exactly as described here by prashnit
