Well, I changed my mind on the Stag. I found a Colt 6920 Law Enforcement M4 carbine for a price I couldn't say no to and ordered it....

A few cool gun pics of my kids. My 14-year-old is shooting my SKS and my 10-year-old is shooting my old Marlin .22.

Correct both are actually G3 models.
First one is an HK date coded G3/SG1 sniper rifle. HK date code puts it at 1976 long before PSG-1 came out. Basically its predecessor.
Hand selected at the factory for accuracy then hand fitted with Lothar Walther barrel and Zeiss 6 power scope. Select fire was retained.

Second gun is G3 full auto very early gun converted to semi by HK per ATF in order to be made legal for import. Made in 1962 and imported to Cali by GSA (Golden State Arms).
It retained all the full auto parts except sear but was the only one I have ever seen where the original swing down lower was cut and a pin was put in its place.
The shelf was modifed by HK so it could not accept a true swing down full auto lower.
You can see the diff between the two in the twopics below.
If you Wiki G3 you will also see info and pic provided by me.

Has Threadmaker bought that AR reciever yet and what did he get:whistle:

Rev 6.5 I still have my first rifle. It is a Marlin 783 .22 magnum. Cant wait for Adam who is 3 now to shoot it !
I took it to camp when I was growing up and thats where I earned my first NRA match patches !
Too cool
Try some ear plugs or smaller head phones on the 10yr old when he shoots the .22 so he can get up on that thing !
If he is gonna shoot Camp Perry and be world champ hes gotta get his cheek on the stock .
But then again since his older brother looks like he knows your 10yr prolly does everthing 'better'........:poke: at the younger bro who I was way back when and still am.
Almost same diff. My older bro has me by 5, but I could do everything better than him...

Nice job on the proper safety gear though....gotta teach them right.

So your HK lower has been clipped and pinned or in the gun nut term spayed. I have a SEF lower that I was planning on doing a mp5 clone build but no go when I found out how much a parts kit cost.

How does the collapse stock on the sks work out? Does it have any noticeable movement when shooting?

That is a nice Colt. I got to fire one in return for letting a fellow shooter at the range try out my Mosin Nagant. He had the scope mounted on the carry handle and it was a pretty good shooter. I did not have any jams or malfuntions and it looked like it had a lot of wear. His had the same gov/law enforcement markings also.

Man I miss the range out in Casa Grande AZ. Always met some interesting people there and got to try out a lot of cool firearms.

The G3 was not really 'clipped and pinned' as this is a term that came out long after this mod was done.
It was Mikey Moused by HK to get it in simply. Very simliar job just slightly diff on mode and pin placement.
Yes HK sears and parts for that matter are insane now. I have seen a decent auto sear for an HK gor for 15K.
I still have many but even more so than with bikes guns come and go.
Really gettin into Springfields now or century old Winchesters. Not crazy $ guns but just nice guns.

I have a Winchester garand that is still all original parts made in 1942 that saw more than a dozen battles on Islands in the pacific.
Thing looks every bit the part. Like it was drug behind somebodys buggy !
Documented by the guy who sold it to me. I sold him a car we talked I sad hey wait a min you got a what ? He said yeah you wanna come take a look at it.
I carried this for 3 yrs in the Pacific he tells me as he is showing me all his awards and metals and pics ALL over his house.
Has pics of him with it close up where you could even see it was same gun on one door.
His wife gives me a blintz and soda and says to him you oughtta sell that thing cuz I'm getting tired of moving it to get the vacuum.
Yes it was just sittin in the closet all dusty. A documented all orig WWII early Winchester garand vet bringback. Never been rearsenaled.
He looks at me and says how much do you think something like this is worth.
MMMMMM I dont know maybe 3-4 hundred bucks.....I try him on expecting to hear.....WHAT !
He says gimme 500 and its yours.......:cheerleader:OMFG
I planned on coming home with a garand and had 2k in my pocket !
I could hardly drive straight. I couldnt wait to get home with it.
It is a very desirable gun due to its history and documentation.
The guy was a true war hero and here was the weapon he used.
I was honored to be in his house.
I'm honored to still have it and it gives me goose bumps when I hold it.
One deal I made out on.

That range looks so cool there Rev. 6:5.
I used to go to one in TN in the back of a famers fields. Every yr he would move the range to another field. It was 20 bucks all yr and you could simply back up your car any day all day and BWAST DIRT CLODS.....

AbsoFreakin'Lutely nada like that here really this far south..too many folks...too little land.

I, too, shot competitively with a .22 while growing up. :) I have all my little NRA metals and patches. Man, those were the days!

He's got a little head. Regular ear muffs don't work too well, I know. :D

If I had to go back and do it again, I wouldn't have put the collapsible stock on the SKS. It's just too stinking muzzle heavy for a light stock. It's a chore keeping the muzzle level when firing non-supported.

Buy him some of those custom ear plugs for about 15 bucks if his ears are still too small for foam plugs.
Teach em early how to do it right and you will be more comfy later in life.
Good that they are shooting and can see what guns actually do to things.
Too many kids these days play video games with guns and think you can just hit reset.
That's why too many accidental shootings happen.
No respect for firearms was instilled at an early age.
I remember the first time I saw a milk jug filled with water explode.
After that I knew not to play around.

I agree 100%. I grew up with guns. I got my first gun (.410 shotgun, which I still own) when I was 8 years old. My dad made me earn it, though. He said if I could shoot it without falling down, I could have it. When my oldest turned 8 (he's now 14), I made him earn it the same way. :)

believe it or not..must be the holidays...not only has spikes not shipped it or even charged me for it..but the wife spent the money over the holiday....good thing the bank covers me up to 400$ overdrawn lol...for a small fee

2 months & I can order mine. I could order the Spikes lower now but i'm buyin my buddy's 22-250 today lol

I may not be ordering from Spikes. Guy at work said he wants to sell his complete LMT lower with 6-pos stock for $300 so i'll prbably buy that.

Does it have the Sopmod stock or the standard? Reason I ask is you can get the lowers with standard stock brand new for $305 so you might can talk him down to $275. The lower with sopmod stock usually goes for $436 to add the sopmod stock to a standard lower usually cost over $200.

Check out this video! Think twice about firing a wet M4!
