So my wife had a motorcycle accident scare today. She's fine, no one hurt but it brought up an old standing topic for me. How do we get away from the jackass motorcyclist label?

Here's what happened. Wife was coming up on a turn into a parking lot on a narrow two lane. While waiting, a big ford from oncoming lane came up ready to turn opposite way. As is very common here, both vehicles came to stop, looked, and turned at the same time. Unknown to my wife there was an older Harley rider in the passenger rear corner of the truck. When the truck began the turn, rider gassed and took tight shoulder around truck. Wife braked hard and just missed him. Ok so accidents happen right. Here's where it gets good.

Older rider actually came around block to come back and cuss wife. Said she needed to be more aware of motorcycles. Now I agree with idea that drivers should pay more attention but here is what he didn't know about my wife; she a bike fiend. Loves to ride passenger. On top of that, she has on more than one occasion driven chase truck for rides. She was even following me once when I went down. Wife knows how to watch for bikes and traffic flow.

I understand how a lot of riders feel and how passionate they can be about idiot drivers. I know I have been mad plenty of times for the too young girl talking on cell, chewing bubble gum, and trying to exit the McDonald's.

I just wonder if some bikers tend to think that just because they are on two wheels that everyone else should cater to them. Personally, I ride like no one can see me when there's traffic. It's the city, not a closed course. Don't motorcycle riders need to do their best to improve the negative image, not cuss drivers who were actually paying enough attention not to run them over?

:soapbox: :spank:

We teach our kids defensive driving....I call motorcycling, offensive driving.....not that I'm offensive to other drivers, but I have to put my bike where I want it to go. I don't react to you, I'm already ahead of you and what you do should be inconsequential to what I do. I cover my brakes in intersections and I know that you don't see me.

Your wife needs to smile and wave at the Harley driver and yes, we need to do more to help our image - but - your going to get the odd guy who saw it another way and has to say something. I get that. It looked different from his seat and maybe he knew it was his fault but he kinda scared himself and that is where the comment came from. Perhaps - or - he was just a goof!..

Ride safe my friend....and take it easy on the Harley drivers! they need all the help they can get .

Some people think they have the right-of-way no matter what they are driving. I call them "Entitlists" on some days, and different choice words on others. You may call them what ever you choose.

Sounds like that rider needs to retake the BRC.

A smart rider wouldn't have been hugging so tight to another vehicle, especially in that type of situation! Bad ju ju

He was riding a Harley which makes him an azz anyway
Tell your wife to keep an eye out . She will see him standing on side of road talking on cell phone next to his broke down bike .
Then she can turn around come back and laugh her butt off at him !

That harley rider was in the wrong. He was just trying to make himself feel better by belittling your wife.

Always somebody elses fault... He was just angry he messed up.
I figure every vehical out there is tryin to get me:whistle:

The bike was at fault for not knowing what was in front of the truck he was following. Your wife was at fault for not knowing what was behind the truck she was turning in front of. Both cages turning simultaneously are assuming nothing is behind each vehicle. And you know what they say about assume!

Not every Harley rider is a clown, but there is a bunch of them! :poke:

Being in a hurry or impatiences can kill you on a bike.

:hijack: made me change my avatar..

never know who's listenin Blanca:laugh:

i dont know why some bikers are timid while others are aggressive, and everything in between. my guess on the biker is that he was either scared or he really thought your wife was tryin to squish him or both, maybe neither.i donno buddy. some people can be jerks.(not you Blanca  )

Also, you have drivers with such a wide difference of experience. After going to so many point reduction classes over the years, it's pretty evident young drivers are hurting lots of people.
