Baseline Stock vs Akrapovik Full System 2012

Nah might take for a spin tonight , want to keep the miles down til the bike gets tuned. Did start it though the pipe is quiet compared to some of the ear splitting pipes I heard out there. Has a nice growl instead of a scream.

keep the miles down? Is this a show bike or going to be kept as a collectors item? Yes they are very quiet remove the 8MM bolt and take the silencer out to get a nice sound, not loud in my opinion.

There has been a lot of opinions on tbe topic of air filters. Some say KN some say BMC and others have stated no change in hp from oem and aftermarket. I personally wouldnt run the race filter on the street due to less protection. Its just my opinion tk have better protection then to gain and even if its true. 0028 of a horsepower with the race version.
Ryan Schnitz did a comparison a few years ago of a stock, pipercross race, and BMC race filter on his dyno. The BMC race gave the most hp, I believe it was about 1 1/2hp. I do know that changing the stock filter out for a bmc on my busa sharpened up the throttle response. I can't say I noticed any power gain but the quicker, sharper throttle response was worth it to me
All the little things do add up in the end
But you're right Lankee, any race filter isn't going to filter quite as good as stock....

Ya know, when my OEM air filter was getting miles on it and cleaning it with air just wasnt doing it I started to research air filters. I decided with the BMC regular after due to 1) I can wash and reuse it 2) the filteration and protection. I believe I read that also with 1.5 HP gain, but as anyone on a dyno knows each dyno pull can vary this much and 1.5HP to me wasnt worth sacraficing filteration. Now if I was just a weekend drag racer looking for that extra .00001 in the 1/4 mile then maybe I would have but highly doubt it since I dont any longer enjoy rebuilding engines.
I personally didnt notice any difference installing the BMC from the OEM. I did notice a slight louder tone from the airbox during WOT.

Got a K&N race filter locally, took the bike for a 70 mile run tonight, rides nice, smelled unburnt gas out of the exhaust so is running rich, thought it would lean out without a tune, can someone explain? How many miles can I put on the bike without a tune before I start damaging pipe and motor? It will be a week before tuner can fit me in, he is busy, which is a testament to his rep. Am looking forward to having this thing complete (for now). The pipe has a nice mellow sound even at speed.

I am running the same setup as you and have almost 20k of hard running with no issues and feels stronger with each ride.

Want to take it out for a couple hundred mile ride tomorrow, wondering if it is okay to do without a tune?

Lankee has the same pipe and still has the stock map. So i think on my non professional opinion that u would be ok. But i would get it tuned as soon as your tuner has a slot

Out of interest and for a comparison, heres my L1 with a full Yoshi TRE system before and after a PC-V remap. Be interesting to see how it compares...

Why such a change with the Humidity and the "DN" ? That alone could make the power diff on your before Commander VS No command run. Where the runs not done back to back?

Unfortunately one of the push pins on an electrical connector pushed back int a connector and took us a long time to find the issue, told them to wait til Tuesday to finish, wanted a fresh start without them feeling pressured to finish, the drama continues, sorry. First run this morning pipe and ac was 183 + so I think the tune will come in nice around 188 or so.

Damn 170 to 183 with the stock ecu map?
+13 is good and about right with Akrapovics website. There OEM pull was around 177 and slapped the exhaust on with the oem ECU map and pulled around 190 177-190= 13+HP

Do you have the AFR with the pipe and oem map?
