BEST 1/4 AND 1/8 MILE TIMES

Redline, it is east of Dallas. I have heard rumors about a 1/4 mile track about to open in Crandall off of 175 but haven't had time to go check it out.

Posted on another board on Jun 1

Drove by the new track today, couple of buildings and a big sign saying it would be an IHRA track, and a big bulldozed strip in the dirt. Looks like they are months away from completion. Weren't they supposed to open a year ago?[/Quote]

Sully,

You need to come up to the PMRA in Noble this weekend. 2.5 hours from Dallas. We had 120 entries last round and quite a few guys were MIA due to the Huston race conflict.

I was at Max's in Abilene this past saturday and they had a ZX-14 on display with a note on it that said it held the Abilene dragstrip (1/8 mile) record. I don't remember exactly what it was now but, I think,
5.50ish and 137mph. Today I was there again and now it has a note on it that says best 1/8 mile is 5.95 and 121mph. nothing about track record on this note. Don't know why the change. I have never been to the strip so I don't know what the truth is.
Anyone want to come here and take the record from this guy?

I'd be embarassed with a track record of 5.(anything) there are guys here that race at 4.70 (cars) all day long and that is tuned down so they don't break out of their class.

Pro Stock bikes ran 6.9s in Chicago at 190+ 1/4 mile Fugging Buells.

Yeah, that would be slow for a record, might not be true.
Don't know how long the track has been open.
Think I'll email the track to get some info.

My best run so far is in the 1/8th. Its a 63" stage 1 turbo busa.

60' 1.45
660' 5.58
mph 136.46

It still has alot more in it, I'm hoping for some 5.40's very soon.

Is anyone running with stock gearing and stock clutch? I'm curious to know those times.

I went 10.55 @ 138 on mine stock gearing, 1" down, stock clutch, street tire, foot shifting. It was my first time to race a bike at the track. I think I could run a 10.25 or so the same way now.

that better be a long, low 14 with alot of spray or a big motor to do 137 in the 1/8

Sounds like John's bike. For a no bar bike it's quick and if Mark's on it watch out that guy can 60ft any bike.

I think they mean't fastest no bar ZX14 in our area in the 1/8. Last year my GS base bar bike race him a few time's and I'd get the holeshot but John's bike would make it up on the top end and boy was it fun. I'd win a few and he would win a few too.

We got another guy that just started racing a ZX14 and he in the 6.10's give him some seat time and he'll in in the 5's too.

I'm waiting on the B King to show up in 08 cause that would be a good race with a few mods.

Yes, I did hear someone say it was John's bike.
The funny thing is the next week I was at Max's and the numbers on the 14 said " best 1/8 was 5.95 and 121.

Anyways, I asked Willie over at Kent's about the B-King and he said he wasn't going to order any. Although I guess that wouldn't stop him from ordering for a customer.

Maybe Belitz's was playing around John's bike and put his time on it

That's it I'm sure cause I see where Mark is running in the 5.56 to 5.6 pretty regularly.
He is listed as running box class with those times.
Now, I didn't have a clue what that meant.

So, I asked my son who races his 600. He gave me a little Bracket Racing 101.
For an old timer who hasn't been to the drags in over 30 years I was surprised to hear it's all in the consistency and not the speed. I had to think that one over a bit. At first I just didn't think that would be very interesting but now I can see how it would be. Kinda like a person trying to perfect his golf game.

Best 1/4 mile et so far is 8.07 and best mph is 172.5. that was my old turbo Suzuki RF900. Hoping to go low sevens on my new turbo Busa with slick and bars.
