Big winter project under way.

Well my head finally came back today. Im hoping that the money i spent on it will be worth the investment. I had new valves springs cams put in. Here are a couple of pics of the winter project.

Looking good, can't wait to see it back together~!~

Who did the work? What cams and what size valves? Stock?

Ok to answer some of the questions. I had lazermike in PA did the head. I will find out once it is flowed whether or not it is a real good job. It does look good inside and out. The cams are from megacycle. They are custom ground. Intake .425 lift, 257 deg. duration at .040" exhaust .413 lift, 252 deg. duration. Center lines on both are 110 degrees.
Valve size on the intake is stock and exhaust is + .5mm.

is this engine still being setup for some juice. :beerchug:

He was looking at superchargers but couldn't find one with enough HP capability (maxed out about 350 or so for the ones looked at), so I believe a very large turbo is in the works...

Ok here are some pics of my engine case. I have sanded and drimmled every sharp edge off so the oil can flow to its best ability. Tomorrow we are making room to bring the bike over to Hollywood's shop and start the mock up of the engine gertle and turbo header and everything that will be going with this build.

Ken, It looks like either a gt42r or gt45r turbo is what we will be going with. After 2months of research we have narrowed down the rods and pistons to Wossner out of Germany. The pistons because of the big diam. pins and the rods because they are a little thicker and and have bigger rod bolts.

sounds like a good choice in parts. sounds like you've got the turbo and engine guts sorted. I'm guessing that you plan on something to reduce charge unlet temps too...

it's always a good idea to knock off any casting lines and smoothing things out for better oil flow back to the pan. You can spend days doing the inside of the case. :beerchug:

I did spend about 2 weeks off and on working on the inside of the case. I just got a call from marine crankshaft and they are got the crank. They should have it done in about 2 weeks. Knife edged and counter balancer gear cut off.
As for the reduction in temp on the inlet we are up in the air right now. Not sure. But something will be done.:beerchug:

Well my Crank will be here on monday. Cant wait to see it. :cheerleader: Does anyone know that kind what kind of numbers a stock head flows. I had mine flowed this week after being ported. Just wanted to see the difference. I forgot the numbers off the top of my head but will post them tomorrow.

I wish I had the extra cash to do a nice turbo setup so I could beat up on the smaller guys on the 1k bikes. It sometimes sucks being a bigger guy! It really slows you down in a drag race.

As I have decide not to go with a turbo kit for this build sense the funds have run short. I will be running nitromethane. I fugure someone has to try it in the lsr world and it might as well be me. I really need some aluminum rods and I am having a very hard time finding some. Any help would be nice. This should be a hell of a ride.

Well If you have been following this i have been back and forth on how to go about this build with limited funds. Well after weeks of research on the nitromethane there is a reason no one runs it is because the engine will not hold together under any large % of nitro. So Im back to the origenal build TURBO. WEll most of the internal parts will be ordered tomorrow. If anyone knows of an inexpensive ball bearing turbo gt42-gt47 let me know. Also if any one has some gen2 stock cams they dont need let me know too. Had mine redone for a N.A engine.

ummm Kev you do know we're in mid Feb. already :poke::laugh::whistle: Is it panic time yet? j/k

I think moving away from the nitro/meth mix was a good idea. :beerchug: Back to super turbo. Is the ball bearing turbo that neccessary? Regular bearing turbo would save you a few.

it's always a scramble no matter how well things are scheduled and planned. I've still got alot of things that are pending as well. :banghead:
