You are wrong, the term was meant to keep both the government and the religious doctrines separate.

I know that GW has done a good job of imposing his particular religious beliefs on us and various country's around the world that receive aid. But it isn't right and should not be tolerated.

"In God we Trust" was not added to US currency until 1864. It was not added to paper money until 1957. E pluribus unum - from many one was the motto chosen by the founding fathers and adopted in 1782.

The founding father's religious conviction has been a matter of strong debate and probably calling them "Strong Christians" is a stretch.

from what I hear, history is being re-written. I'm old enough that when I was in school, I learned one of - if not THE - primary reasons WE left europe to found America was for religious freedom. I hear that is no longer the historical case. Funny, I always thought history only happens once

religious freedom or freedom from religion? I have read quotes from Thomas Payne, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson that are anti-religions.

History is Written and re-written based on the social climate. This is why primary sources are best for a glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of the authors.
