Busa Kickstand, Corrected in later years?

All-

I have read about the kickstand mod, and the horror stories of our babies just "taking the dive" in parking lots etc. I was wondering if this was something that Suzi had addressed in the newer models? Maybe I am missing something, but my 04 seems stable on the stand. I would rather be safe than sorry however, so if you all think it still needs done let me know!!

Thanks-

You won't know it till it hits the pavement. The answer is no, its not a mistake, you just need to park it in gear. The mod you're talking about just gives it a bit more forward position(the kickstand) therefore a bit more stability. The bike will still fall over or roll of the stand if you dont park it in gear. Hope this helps!!! NJ.:)

better safe than $orry

nope my 04 sidestand needed to be done
now I can push my bike while on the stand it wont fold under, just slides on the stand
took about an 1/8 inch out of the stop area of the side stand.......

Thanks guys.

I suppose I have a date with a grinder then.

The only other bike that I've played with that had similiar problems was a Ducati 888. That italian engineering, what can you say.

Thanks again-
Ryan

do the kickstand mod... It took me 20 minutes with a dremel. (Just don't take off too much... ;) A little cut up high makes a big difference in angle down low...

I love the way it sits now. I have mine lowered to and the stance is almost perfect... Never worry about it falling over anymore that is for sure...

I have an 04, and I did do the mod because i've had my bike started to tip over. I was lucky that a friendly biker nearby caught it for me! I took about 1/32in off the contact spot on my sidestand. It made a pretty big difference in the stability.

This is one of those "Why not do it?" mods. It will only be a waste of a few minutes of your time if the bike doesn't fall over. If it does fall over you will wish you had done it. You make the call!

As long as you follow one of the first rules of owning a motorcycle, you WILL NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM!

PARK THE BIKE IN GEAR, ROLE IT FORWARD WITH THE CLUTCH RELEASED TO TAKE OUT THE SLACK, THEN......SET IT ON THE STAND!  Same as when parking it on a hill. You just have to do it all the time with the Busa!

The problem is people leave the bike out of gear and it doesn't take much.  Just a slight hill or even wind will push it just enough forward that the bike weight makes the kickstand close up.

Next thing you know......CRUNCH, the bike is on the ground!
