Cam chain tensioner just failed on my 00 too!

OK you guys are starting to freak me the fu*k out. If so many people are having problems with this same part I say that you call suzuki or do what the other board says and contact the government. Get off your azzes and band together to do something about it. Nothing has happened to my bike but I will help in any way possible.
email me at Ambush@FragAcademy.com

Just hit 3000 miles on my '00 'Busa and no noise or anything yet. But it's not going to stop me from ordering the APE manual tensioner (actually calling John as I type).

Enough is enough of this s h i t !! We need to pool together and force Suzuki to do something on one hand, but on the other hand, they already did the recall on the '99 models with another bad tensioner!!

Any lawyers in the house?? Any suggestions on how we can do this? Stength in numbers fellow 'Busa owners...

Are there any alternatives to the APE tensioner? LIke an aftermarket self-adjusting tensioner instead of a manual one.

I don't mind going in there and re-adjusting after every 1000-1500 miles, but if I can avoid it I will.

Right
All of ya

STOP RIGHT THERE.

As soon as you all start talking about lawyers and sh1t, we cannot get info, advice etc from johnnyCheese. He is legaly obliged to say nothing. No input, no inside details, no info on what they are going to do, nothing about his tensioner which is, by now in Japan being rammed up the backside of the designer I should imagine.
Not an Iota
Not diddly squit.

I suggest that all this panicking stops. We know what / how to fix the problem in the interim period between Suzuki knowing there is a problem, them admitting there is a problem and them recalling all the bikes. This is to fit a manual tensioner, keep the stock one and gasket, ready to fit back on when the recall is issued. (Even if after the next recall, and there HAS to be one, you take the new one off and revert to the manual one.
If they do recall the bikes this will take an age. It won't be next week, or the week after. The logistics of all of this is a mamoth task in itself, let alone finding the problem, designing a new one, making it, testing it, making thousands, mounting them in the cases, testing them again, shipping,.........

Have you not noticed how commentless JC has been on these threads??

As soon as the scaremongery stops, he might be more inclined to help.

We know where to get the manual tensioners from in our respective countries.

So for what, £40 UK, and $60 USA, delivered next day to your door, well. I have done it.

Loose JohnnyCheese and we loose a wealth of information and a willing internet diagnos-technichian (if I can call JC that!!)

Just my $60 worth (2 cents is not strong enough)

I was waiting for Suzuki to solve the problem, but obviously that's no longer an option. I have the extended warranty, but with almost 18000 miles on the bike, I'm not going to push my luck any farther.

I just ordered a tensioner from John at APE.

Thanks, Hapo.

someone post pics of stock then manual tensionser installed please? Side by side pics to see how and what. Thanks
Lee

I have a 00 marked 4/00 with 3,155 miles of hard riding with no problems, no noises. But I'm installing the APE tensioner FRI this week. It's a matter of time before it fails.

Yeah, I ordered mine too. I'll let the wrenches at the local shop install and adjust it.

I don't want to blow an engine over this whole thing.

I think the rear subframe issue is bigger than this (solvable) problem.

Meanwhile while all of this hysteria takes place, John and Jay of APE are taking most advantage of this situation making BIG BUCKS off of this little, cheap to produce part. What $60 a pop, they have sold probably at least 40 or so from this board alone in a week, Kudos to you two, keep the propaganda and panic alive, you can make more!!!.

PS: atleast you could have sent us a freakin gasket with the damn thing!!$hit! Instead of charging $3 extra, its not the price, its the inconvenience of not getting a gasket with your product. I guess I'll eith $hit one out or go to the dealer and pay $40 for one. Fukk

PSS: Leave Johnnycheese out of this $hit, you bastards!!! :)

LOL Sorry ta hear about your motor! At least ypou guys can hear when something goes wrong ! **** I'm Deaf so guess Ill just wait till it happens! lol baby mine mostly been to 190 twice but no problems yet 2000 red/silver

Just ordered mine from John at APE. About $50 with a gasket. By the way, it has been about 11 months since they did a minor modification to this part to make it Hayabusa specific, and there are no clearance problems.

3 Purple dots signifies that this is the new replacement tensioner used in the re-work / campaign. Mine failed after 3,500 miles. Suzuki gave me a brand new engine / gearbox because I refused to have the old 1 rebuilt.

I now have another tensioner fotted to this engine after 500 miles. Suzuki isnisted. It was flown into UK and is "quality assured".

Early last week

Rang them about 5 minutes ago, they said a **** up in USA, they didn't send them when they said they would. They also only order 10!!!

So I would get in quick.

I was trying to get hold of Steve to find out if he knew that the GSX750 one will fit if they cut the bolt down, but he was at lunch......

delivery imminent is the last word!!!!

Good luck

Nuts ;)

Numbnuts the 750 will fit but you do have to cut the bolt down drill a new hole and install a new dowl pin. If you don't do this right the bolt could loosen and well you know what happens.

Quit complaining about the price. If it was $100 it would be worth it. How much would the people with catastrophic failure have paid for one knowing what the damage was after the fact? Just consider it cheap insurance, if you don't want it don't buy one, but also don't complain when you have an expensive failure. Nothing is perfect, not even Suzuki chain ternsioners for the mighty Hayabusa....
