uhhh noooo, change the oil @ the recommended service intervals, suzuki is not going to tell you to do something that is going to hurt your new motorcycle. your wasting your time and hard earned $$$ changing oil @ 100,200,300,even if you change it early your still going to load the new oil up with debris so why not leave it in there and let the oil filter do its job, also with todays quality of metals and engine assembly there is no need for super frequent oil changes unless your plowing fields or taking it down the drag strip every weekend. i agree with motorcyclist magazine and suzuki, change the oil at 600 miles, because if you do a bunch of oil changes before that or add synthetic before that you may actually impede the engine break-in,they also went on to say that most motorcycle engines are broke in by 2000 miles. i personally change the oil at the recommended intervel than change it again at 2000 and at that time i will go ahead and put in my oil of choice (mobil 1 4t)

Do you guys do your own service? Went to the dealership today and they told me to come back later. Said it would be about 138 bucks. I asked why so expensive and was told they had to take the fairings off. Should i do it my self or are they doing something other than tightening frame bolts and checking cables?
This is exactly why I purchsed the package at the dealership to get unlimited oil changes for free, they are not cheap and $1,500 is about 15 oil changes, so that's why I did it...It just made sense. I'm sure I could've figured out how to properly change the oil and do it myself but I feel much better having a certified tech do it.
You tossed your $1500 away, in my most humble and experience opinion.

Save your money, don't go in for their "prescribed" services. There is NOTHING that NEEDS to be done to these bikes that you cannot do yourselves at home. The only thing that REALLY NEEDS to be done,,, (MAYBE and not even really) is NOTHING!

Re-check, re-torque and check chain slack,,,,, ALL ON YOUR OWN! Do a pre=flight,,, each and every time before your ride! Inspect and check ALL POINTS after each and every time your come back from a ride!

BECOME INTIMATE WITH YOUR RIDE! It IS your life you trust to it every time you go out isn't!? Would you trust your bike to someone for a price because it was the easy way out?

For $1500,, think of all the things you could do to personally inspect, improve, modify or customize yourself, for cryingoutloud!

For one,, if you do NEED to take your bike into be serviced in a major way,, remove your own panels so that you have no one to blame for scratches,,, except yourself!

Change your own oil and filter. Re-use your original and current O-ring,,, because oit loves the way it was seated,,, and have peace of mind knowing that YOU were the one that tightened the drain plug and not some idiot that may or may not have tightened too much or POTENTIALLY stripped the threads out doing so on a bike he couldn't care less on!

$1500,,, not trying to bust your chops here,,, but, wow,,, someone saw you coming!
Well I understand where your coming from, but my situation is different, I will not be doing any maintenance on my bike, except minor things and I am sure to you changing the oil is minor.

My time is better spent making money then fiddling around changing the oil and taking the fairings off, with my luck I will put scratches on the bike and do something incorrectly, eventhough it would probably be a good thing to learn how to do, its just not my thing.

$1500 for lifetime oil changes sounds good to me, especially with the 6 other maintenances which includes ANYTHING that could happen with repair work, so it was worth it to me. Plus I plan on putting alot miles on this bike, and from what I can tell, an oil change can run $100+ so thats about 15 oil changes...I just felt like it would be worth it in the long run to get the preferred biker package at the dealership.

Besides, $1500 isn't much to a poker player whos blinds are $50-$100, I actually made that $1500 back that night at a casino boat in Savahhana, so to me, it didn't cost me anything...
that's just stupid! You buy a bike like this and you don't even want to change your own oil?

The stealerships are gonna screw up more than you will. IF you've read anything here....there are more than 1 complaint about dealerships. You maned up and bought the fastest street production bike.......MAN UP AND CHANGE YOUR OWN OIL!!! You dont have to take your fairings off to do it...

Hey Nick:

I understand where you are coming from.  In the last several years I have begun to do fairly well financially such that $100 here or there means a lot less than it used to.  Sure you can have someone else do all the work if $ is not much of an issue.  BUT I think what others and I am saying is, you still need to inspect and do minor adjustments to your bike before you ride it and when you get it back from any dealer service.  These are great reliable and safe bikes.  But bolts do loosen, oil plugs sometimes don't get torqued properly, chains need adjusting, etc...  You get the idea.  If you wanted a no-brainer bike, you need more of a sport tourer with a shaft drive.  I do my own stuff not b/c I have to but I enjoy it and I get peace of mind knowing its done right.  Enjoy and be safe.

P.S.  Acura looks nice in background.

The one at the dealership who is going to do the work has his own Hayabusa and lives down the street from me, I feel very confident that he will do a fine job with it, my time is just better spent doing other things than changing oil, trust me.

Thanks alot! I actually just won 'best import' at a car show yesterday...Here is a pic I took:

I think its a funny pic because the guy parked next to me had his trunk open showing off his speaker system, and then you look at my car with the glass up in the back showing off the engine, so it looks like my trunk is open too but its not.

Busa Nick you need to change your own oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL just kidding

Eh, who knows maybe one day I will learn how and do it, but then again I paid the $1500 for lifetime oil changes.......no point, plus...I'd rather drop the busa off and take my daughter to chuckee cheese or somethin'
