Interpreting meaning through writing is sometimes a tricky thing. If his original thread was intended to be in jest then he did a poor job of conveying that message.
A simple J/k or a or even lol would have gotten the message across. We can't read minds and if someone leaves something open ended then it's going to be up to our interpretation of how the message is coming across. In this case it was interpreted as a "dig" by more than just moderators.
