As long as its Latex based paint, he should be fine. Keep an eye on him, and watch for "pooping problems" (for lack of a better term). It shouldn't be toxic in the small amount he seemed to ingest, and latex is water based, so it won't be stored in his organs.

Similar happened when we were painting the house, and the puppy was enthralled with the paint canister in the front room. No worries.
