Does the Captain want a New Busa?

I absolutely have full intentions of getting another busa but not sure when it will happen.
If you guys decide to go forward with this project...

Doug King
aka Captain
That's a 'YES', now shaddup and take it like a man. :)
Don't forget: WE get something out of this too, we get the joy of giving. Seriously. Few things make people feel as good as making someone else feel great! That's to assist your guilt and humbleness stuff.
Do we wait for babuski's return to send checks? Need to know where? I wanna do this - put my money where my mouth is. :) Anyone have his address and name?

I'll contribute, I've learned alot about my bike through this site :D  I also think Captain should look into a dedicated server at a hosting company to save costs.  I paid $3,600 a year for hosting my website that was on a very fast dedicated server, moving 300 gigs of bandwidth a monthly, had 100 gigs of server space, and was receiving 30 million hits a month (360 million hits a year).  I also had excellent 24/7 technical support and little to nil downtime ever.  That comes to $300 a month which is money well spent and much less than what you are currently spending (according to Rev).  This also means no hardware costs.I could am sure there are couple of motorsports sponsors that would chip in the aggregate of $300 a month.  Cut out the video section to save bandwidth.  This will save you huge amounts of cash.  :)  Let me know if you want any contact information.

Count me in...just tell me where to send my check. Would love to be apart of a guy getting a free Busa that deserves it!

I think the captain has made it clear enough in the past that he doesn't really want to do that. This is his hobby.. if you were a stamp collector would you still enjoy it just hiring somebody else to collect them for ya?

Since it looks like he's gonna take it if we put it together, I'm in. Been waitin' for him to weigh in on this... Don't know how much I can spare but I'll do what I can. Maybe I'll just donate my next check for a side security job... :beerchug:

Hey all, I have been gone for a while. Just came back to the board. Count me in.

After running a similar website I can tell you that it turns into a job more than a hobby after awhile.  All I am saying is that if it is costing him as much money as has been said, he should look to cut costs since they are apparently weighing on his mind and finances quite heavily ;)

count me in,on donations because this site help me make up my mind to by a Hayabusa, where to send the money for captain, Thanks for the site !
I haven't purchase the bike yet, * if any body in the DC, area needs any carpentry work, :)

OK, Everyone start squirling away your money for the Cappy's Busa. If you put away $20 here and there it will be painless...
As soon as Babuski gets back, I am sure he'll post an address and details for fundage delivery.

I am thinking we aim for around Christmas time, Failing that, I think it would be best to wait for Spring.

Mighty proud of you boys and girls.....The Captain has spoken loud and clear in my opinion. Interestingly, in the first few lines of his post, he said he thought the board would work against each other making it impossible to get this accomplished...quite the opposite is happening.

Okay, as Rocky Balboa's trainer (Mickey) said in Rocky II, what the heck are we waiting for!!!!!

I'll be back in a less than a week. There will be a few rules to make my life a little easier....some of which are posted below.

1) No paypal....checks only
2) If we fail to come up with enough for the busa.....NOBODY GETS THEIR MONEY BACK...it all goes to Captain TO DO WITH AS HE PLEASES. Perhaps we will come up with only enough to buy him a Honda Trail 70. I simply cannot write out hundreds (perhaps a thousands) checks and come up with postage to return your money)

3) Reverend (Revlis) I agree with a Christmas timeline for those that can contribute immediately but there are those that will have to save their pennies.....spring is better.....no only for saving more money...but there will be many more members of this board that might be able to realise the value of the board and contribute. Hence this thing will be open for many many months....which is cool by me. The early contributors should come quickly and then it will trickle to a very slow amount and then hopefully pick up around early spring. (your Tampa folks have summer all year round.)

4) When I get back I will post address and the final rules.....hopefully we will have hundreds of posts and firm pledges....so guys put up numbers with your committement!!!!!!

See you soon....I try and get back to this site while in London or Amsterdam. I will post the address when I get back

AND TO MAKE IT FUN AND INTERESTING.....I HAVE SOME RAFFLE PRIZES FOR THOSE THAT DONATE (size of donation does not matter in raffle) More on the prizes later.

see you soon....I' m heading to the airport. I'll have everything finalized a few days after I get back including my address.

Thanks.....you guys are a class act!!

TAX?

someone buys it. then sells it to Captain for $1.00
I think he can handle 8cents or so in sales tax.
That depends on where he lives Cache. In Nevada, you are taxed based on the value of the bike (blue book) regardless of what you paid... registration is based the same way...

sorry bud... oregon must be cool.

This is sounded like a great project. However, I personally am concerned with how the money is handled. I know we don't want to make this more painful than necessary, but I would much rather have Ninja Eater collect the funds. No offense Babuski, but you are a relative newbie to the site... I guess my trust in human nature has slid since teaching at the university!

Just my opinion, but I would much rather see Ninja Eater or Dustman or Narcissus collect the $$$ since they have a proven track record around here.

Also, I highly recommend we don't post how much each person contributes. That will make the more well-off members beat on their chests while some lesser off members feel like pooh. I REALLY think a public list of who contributes what is only good for bragging rights and not for getting this gift altruistically over to Captain.

Lastly, I would MUCH perfer PayPal be available for payment. We could even setup a PayPal account and keep the money there drawing interest. Plus, it makes it easier for those of us who live by the plastic!

Just my thoughts....

Hey Doc, I fully trust Babuski to be a stand up guy on this. But from a logistics stand point and from a time invested on the board standpoint I agree, we do know for a fact that Ninja Eater isn't going anywhere. I am pretty certain that babuski will not be offended, he even mentioned this very thing earlier in this thread. I think we should prolly avoid the Poor College Guy though :D all our money will end up invested in beer and Pizza  Kidding Dustman, Kidding.
From a logistical stand point having someone geographically conveniant to the Cap'n could be a real bonus. So maybe Narc would be the ideal candidate if he is up for it.
Doc, you mentioned setting up a PayPal account for the Fund. How does that work? The only problem with that would be a large number of folks have heat with Paypal so it would benefit this effort to make things as easy as possible for of those that want to contribute. Make certain that it's possible for folks to contribute via PayPal, Checks, Money Orders etc.

We have time to work out the details, so lets take it slow and let those that want to contribute but might be a little low on cash save up their pennies. By taking our time I think we could get this done in a completely painless fashion. Besides, getting the Cap'n a Busa around Christmas would be sorta like torture.

So seriously folks, lets stay on top of this, get a jar set aside for your "Cappy's Busa Fund" and lets make it happen because it is the right thing to do!!! Well that, and it could be a lot of fun to finally see a pic of the Cap on a Busa for pete's sake...

Oh One more thing, Folks, if we can get more than 100 folks willing to kick in we all pay less. So if we could manage to dig some of the Lurkers out of the woodwork, get some of the infrequent posters to pitch in as well, we could easily get this down to $25-30 per person. Though if we contribute more I can assure you the the Captain will put it into the board and expenses that way, and maybe buy Dustman some well earned Dr. Pepper Stock.

I am in awe of this board. I am a very poor college kid that can barly afford mods on his Cobra. But if I had the cash, Ill donate for sure. I am on a mustang board regularly like you all are here and know that it really is like another family. I just wanted to comend all of you and hopefully in the next few months, i can send you a check for 30 or 40 bux

Doc_B, I understand your point too. I think Babuski is on the level cuz he's wasted a good amount of time setting this up and been here enough to post quite a few things and make a few friends. Besides, if he pulls anything, since he's in IL, I could always walk over and kick hiz azz!!! ;)

DOC Busa, Ninja and Revlis and everyone else....

NO OFFENSE TAKEN. I would gladly relinquish this to a Senior member of the board that everyone knows and trusts. I am still in for $100.

(what a coincidence, I'm sitting in the hotel lobby in Amsterdam and what pulls up next to the window in the conference room I am now sitting....a f**king NINJA.) Thought of Ninja Eater and how he might like to make a snack out of this thing.....

If Fact I fully expected the longstanding members to step up for this assignment....I am not offended.

It all works out good......A friend told me I was nuts because 2003 has been particularly rough on me (a good friend has gone thru brain cancer, radiation therapy and chemotherapy and my father in law spent the entire summer in Intensive Care and passed away 3 weeks ago). So the added "stress" would not have been good. The Busa helped me get by along with a lot of praying....

So just let me know what you good folks decide. I'll gladly abide by the forums decision and LOVE YOU PSYCHOS NO LESS.

By now you good Americans should be feasting on Football as I go prepare to deal with my jet lag.

Again, I'm cool letting go of the fund raising.

oops... forgot to tell you folks about the day dream.....lots of time to day dream on Transatlantic flights....

....the forum actually raised more than $10,000.....and you flew Captain out to Laguna Seca and surprised him with his new 04 Hayabusa.

Now that would be the ultimate Blingin!!!

Ok....I am way ahead of things here....

Talk later...

Oh Amsterdam Bro...I would be working on clearing up my Jetlag as well... :D If any place in Europe can help you with that, it is Amsterdam.
