there is nothing more lame than surviving a nasty wreck, having shoulder surgery(torn rotator cuff and 4 breaks in the humorless) just find out your leg is a bit infected. now after having surgery on it my poor wife( trooper) has to change my dressings and pack a 4 inch hole that travels down to my ankle with gauze sponges.

first photo is before sugery you can see the nasty infection

Did you ever get the results of the wound culture? Was it some common skin flora like Staphylococcus epidermitus or was it the dreaded Methycillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus? What antibiotic are you on and did you get a tetanus shot?? Even though it looks really bad right now you have some really good granulation tissue on the edges of the wound site and after the wound heals from the inside out you should do just fine with a bit of a scar to show for your suffering:)

Had to do that kinda wound care for my wife many years ago after she had a surgery. Had to use peroxide and use long cotton swabs to swap it out, then pack it with thin gauze strips. Twice a day. Of course, you have to pull the previous gauze strip out first; that's the worst part!

Now THAT's true love!

Hope you heal up fast!

it came back psuedomonas, got off the tequin and got on some cipro bid, the tequin shows a - for treating pseudomonas type infections. not a real heavy count off rods but it got trapped under a healing outter wound so it festered and grew under the tissue. she went in today and scraped some more of the white fatty dead tissue away and now we change it 4 times a day. we are getting the kci pump for after the infection isunder control.

I totally understand what you're going through. I went down on a Virago 15 years ago and tore up my foot pretty bad. It took 7 months to fill in the hole and scar over. Daily dressing and cleaning, lots of discomfort, etc. Yuk.

Keep your chin up and take good care of those wounds. You'll be all patched back together in no time.

Is that one 15 years ago? If so you should post "after" picture as well. That one looks scary...
