Down at Barber...twice

hit up andy busaman69(s.org) he can prob help .. i think there were a set of plastics in the for sale section on s.org

I always thought crashing and road racing kinda went hand n hand...

sorry to hear about it though. At least you're ok. :beerchug:

Glad you are ok... Barber can be challenging with a Busa but it can be done and done safely!

I would say you might not had the suspension set correctly... Turn 5 can be very tight...

Here is turn 5

Yeah, might've been the suspension. I was running the stock setup because it did so good for me at the Dragon. I might go FG but you get what you pay for with that stuff. I ran a Ninja with it and the fit and finish was less than optimal. A 12k bike with 500 fg is kinda silly. Let's see what my next month's pay is like. ;)

Here's turn five right as things were going bad... as you can see in the second picture, I almost saved it. :D

I use FG for the track, but fit and finish leave something to be desired.

I'm sorry to hear about your Busa falling off the trailer on the way home. Did you get a police report of it for the Insurance company? Glad you didn't get hurt.

What??!! Are you joking??? or did you not read what happened????

Sorry about the spill. I just got back from a track day at Heartland Park Topeka today. The last session was in the rain. I know how bummed out I would have been to take a spill. I'm not an expert be any means, but it looks like you need to get off the bike more. The lean angle of the bike is way too much. I'm sure others with more track exxperience will chime in soon.

Sorry for the tragedy but glad that the rider made it through OK.

I just had my first ever track day (CSS course) and I used their bike specifically to save myself that kind of pain in the event of a spill. Plus, they've got their bikes all setup for the track already, so no wondering on my part in terms of "will my street setup work well enough on the track...?".

Hopefully you still had a blast when things were going well. Best of luck!

I'm really sorry about your spill. Such a nice ride. The skinned up plastic can be replaced. It just takes money.

What were you running for tire pressure? What lap were you on during that session? The stock BTO15's are very adequate track tires. I've spanked them on a few occasions and gave them a thumbs up!

Most crashes whether on the street or track are the result of rider error.

Turn 5 spill was rider error, for sure. I was following a 600 over my head, too early in the day, and not hanging off enough. I treated the turn like a single apex and it is a double apex turn, at least for the big bikes. I went in hard and to get out I had to dip again or run too wide. Had I been hanging off properly... But, this was my first track day and had never put a knee down, until the next session. Late in the day, spill two was tire error, which is clear by the indication on the tire. Some speculated that as it got warmer in the day, the psi increased and I was running to full, though it read 30 when I first stepped out on the track. Combine that with the fact that I'm getting more aggressive through the day and leaning further, dragging all the way around corners like the big boys, and really pushing the limits of the beast. Ugh. Don't you know I'm replaying this in my mind and beating myself up over it! "If I had only checked the psi." "If I had just taken it easier...one more session." "There wasn't even a cameraman in that corner!"

There are more pics of the wreck on picsofyou.com. My bike's B class 26. None worth buying for $35 though!

Here is a properly spanked BT015 running 30 psi cold. If you had 30 psi cold when you started, it wasn't the tire that let you down. You can drag your knee all day on a 15. You can also sit straight up on your busa and lean the tire all the way to the edge and won't loose grip. However, if you are sitting straight up and leaned over, a tiny mistake will put you down.

You did something the bike didn't like. Usually it's throttle control. Either giving it to much or not enough throttle while leaned over. From your explaination of the corner being a decreasing radius, I have a sneaky feeling you closed the throttle when you realized you had to lean further to make the corner? Sure recipe for tucking the front.

I find most guys on their first track day want to coast through the corners. No bike likes coasting through the corners. Coasting and rear brake application is probably the two biggest issues that cause first time track guys to crash. It's only a guess as to what caused the crash but it wasn't the tires.

Don't get discouraged about crashing. Everybody does it eventually. You just got yours over with early. You can have tons of track time fun with your big toy. The trick is not to let your balls outweigh your skills.

Excellent traction.

Did you take your bike to Mid South Motoplex Clarksville TN? I pulled in with mine as you pulled out this Saturday - the Service guys told me that I just missed you!

I saw this post but didn't put 2+2 together until Raybusa pointed it out to me.

I just live down the road in Pleasant View....
