Ebay scammer???

Nothing in the mail today.  I checked the tracking # and it says this:

We attempted to deliver your item at 11:44 am on July 16, 2006 in PATCHOGUE, NY 11772 and a notice was left. A second delivery attempt
will be made. If unsuccessful, we will hold it for five business days and then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available,
is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I don't live in Pathchogue and nothing was left at my door.   I live in Bellport, which is the next town over from Patchogue.  I'm going to call USPS tomorrow and see whats up.
Any news or updated information yet...
What did USPS say about the wrong address...

LMAO, that be great! I called the post office and the tracking number is valid and I can pick the package up tomorrow morning. I'll keep you updated. He probably sent me an envelope filled with anthrax or something, lol.

He wont have the title if there is a lein on the bike, period. If he has the title (check the vin close on the frame and engine) there is no lein.
Not true in all states. In MO, it is illegal for a leinholder to hold the title. I have the title to all of my vehicles in hand, even though several of them have leins registered on them.

He was most likely using "Clear" title to mean not salvage. But I would not buy a bike from someone who's name isn't on the title.

Thats true, in FL for example, the lienholder keeps the title, but I believe here in NY you keep the title yourself.

I agree, its not even legal to sell a vehicle when your name isn't on the title. What was he going to do, sign the previous owners name on all the paperwork including the Bill of Sale? Plus, when scumbags dont' register and insure vehicles, you can't get an accurate history of the bike.

Man oh man Chris, you have the patience of a saint. Honestly, I would have driven to his house the day he said he would mail the check. I was getting pissed off just reading this!

I hope this works out for you.

BigGeorge, I know what you mean bro. I've thought about making that 2.5 hour trip to NJ every day since this whole thing started last week. This isn't over though, if I get the check in the mail tomorrow I'm freed of needing anything from him anymore. At that point, revenge becomes easier....

Hey Chris. It's tomorrow. DDid you drive to the post office to get the envelope?

Alright, this soap opera is now killing me. We need to know if you get the check from this POS. Even if he intentionally sent it to the wrong address, go to wherever it's being held and pick it up. Hopefully, he refunded the full amount.

Scumbag: "What do you mean it's only for $100.00? I told the cashier $1000.00. It must be a typo. I'll send you the remaining $90.00, I mean $900.00 ASAP."

Maybe we can all screw up his e-bay deals from now on if he doesn't follow through.

Just got back from the post office and the scumbag actually sent me a $1000 cashiers check. Now that I have the money, whats next? Should I post negative feedback on eBay with the address of a website that I'll set up explaining everything that happened, including pics of the damage and all email transactions sent between us. How about an ass kicking? Think its worth the 2.5 hour drive? I have his address now, I'll post it when I get home.

Perhaps you should wait and see that the check clears the Bank first...
Not to burst your bubble, but lots of scammers have been able to float fake checks for a while now...

I was about to say that...

And if the check clears, maybe just let it all go... is it really worth your time and erergy?

And remember... he has your address, too. My advice is to cash the check and let it go.

Is this a cashier's/bank check or a personal check?

If it's a bank/cashier's check I believe you chould be able to confirm it with them by providing them with the number.

If it's a personal check get to the bank by 2:00 today (most banks) so it posts today.

Its possible that this could be a fake Bank of America cashiers check? I'll post back when I see that the money was deposited into my account.

Definitely leave some negative feedback. Don't help him screw others like yourself over by not at least warning others with your experience.

You wish someone had done the same for you before committing, right?

Wont do any good to leave the feedback....He's no longer a registered user...
UPDATE

And...lookin at his feed back, I'll bet the last entry (notice it says private?? this is because this member cannot leave feedback on an Auction # he didnt win) is from a buddy that left this feedback to downplay it..Notice explicit use of 'GSXR'...LOL
BOGUS FEEDBACK

It's funny that the mention was made of a fake cashiers check....the young couple I bought my busa from, told me about a fella tryin to buy it with a 'cashiers check' The buyer gave it to them one morning and expecting that they would deposit it, he said he would be back for the bike that evening.....Well the couple went to the 'issuing' bank instead of depositing it...AFTER their bank looked at it and said they'd go ahead and credit their account so as to pay off the bike......The 'issuing bank called the cops, and turned out- not only was it fake, it was also forged...
The only mistake this couple made, in my own eyes, is that they tried to call the guy immediately.(HE never showed back up)....I, on the other hand would have waited for the Jackass to show up and get 'his' bike-

BUT I guess we do things differently here in Texas..........

In short, FUG E-Bay. Just not worth all the trouble and BS I hear about and e-bay doesn't hold themselves at all liable.
