ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL FOR BUSA'S

Good luck Nathan...I was getting ready to check out the site for more info when I saw the luck you've had so far...
It's working perfect now Chelle.
I had problems with the LED tail lights which was fixed with a relay.
Works good.
Used the relay as a remote activating switch, eh ?
If you have ONLY LED’s for your brake lights, it will be necessary to add a SPDT relay to the circuit between the brake light switch and the cruise servo. The cruise is grounded through the brake light bulb. This ground is “brokenâ€￾ when the brake is applied (bulb lights) and this is what cancels the cruise. Since current will only flow one way through an LED, no ground is seen by the servo and the unit will not work. The relay will bypass the brake light, providing ground to the servo for normal operation, but will cause the ground circuit to open when the brake is applied, thereby canceling the cruise.

I would be more than happy to pay for a Busa specific set of instructions, actually I bet a few guys would. Whats the chance of something like a cd, pointing out specific things you had to do to install it, any problems and how you bypassed them? Or, is there somewhere you can put it online and we can download, paypal, whatever?

is the switch waterproof? Does it kick off when you pull the clutch? How did you wire that up?

Anyone find a good price on these lately? I have the bike half torn down to change the slave cylinder seal, would be a good time to do that as well.

I also have a black Mototeck undertail, with 96 led tail lights, 10 led signals, plate relocater, new, never installed for sale.

I just did a write up in this section of the forum.
Look for True cruise for busa.
Has some pics and install help.

You guys don't see a problem with attaching an electronic controlled servo to the throttle of a 175 HP motorcycle?
One little glitch, especially in 1st gear will put you on your ass in the blink of an eye.
Alarms get flaky in certain situations, gauges have flaked out after installing HID lights in a Busa...or hell, I can just drop my Nextel phone next to anything electronic while it searches for a new tower and all kinds of neat things happen like my alarm clock on the nightstand resetting or the famous POP POP POP from speakers while the monitor or TV screen jiggles.

Too much risk imo.  Throttlemeister may be way over priced for something so simplictic but it's reasonably safe and won't give any surprises.
I was thinking the same thing.

I'd never trust it completly.

First off, we're installing a cruise controller made for cruzzzzzzzing. Not a cruise missle controller, and what dumb azz would engage their C/C in  first gear ?

Listen to what the hell you just said dude, and I mean your whole statement ! So I guess everyone that owns an electronic fuel injection car and especially the ones equiped with a cruise controller had better worry about grimlins taken over their ECU causing havoc, eh.

The audiovox cruise control has safety features built into the unit to disengage your throttle (brake, clutch, and a on and off switch ) along with the motorcycle kill switch if all fails . Just by tapping  eithier one and the cruise controller servo is disengaged. No mental thought involved just your normal reaction to wanting to stop when driving, not so with a throttlemiester setup ! Your split second normal reaction isnt programed to turn your barend to the unlock position or to hit you emergency engine kill switch.

You may think so when driving under normal circumstances you could but thats not true when reacting at a split second trying to avoid unforseen trouble, atleast for the normal person . Your first reaction will be to grab a hand full  of brake lever or try standing  with all your weight on the rear brake lever or maybe grab the clutch, not the so called flick of the your pinky unlocking your Throttlemiester !!!
Actually I've heard that when some motorcyclist are involved in a accident their was no signs of them using thier brakes, talk about panicing.

Bottom line different strokes for different folks and we're all gonna take risk some time or another.

Peace luv and hairgrease as my boy BA would sayz !

And yes I just installed mine yesterday with positive results across the board.
It maintains a constant speed on level ground and will vary between 1 to 5 mph going up and down hills.
Not bad for $89 and was easy to install too !!

is the switch waterproof?
so what's the verdict here?  I assume it's not waterproof?  So is it gonna get screwed up the first time you wash your bike or get caught in the rain?
Just put a quick disconnect  connectors on the ends of the wires to remove the control switch before washing if your concerned. Personally,to avoid  getting wet while washing or riding in the rain seal the back side with silicone and mount above your speedo. This is where I mount my radar when riding and have had no issue with the outside elements.
Though I am also considering jerry riggn a cover for it, just for the extra insurance. Somthing similar to a plastic ear ring box with a flip up see through lid.

What happen, Nathan and why are you selling your C/C after all the trouble you went through trouble shooting the rear brake problem ?
