First Time Rider: First Bike Busa

hehe, spoken like a true non-rider.

You may become a rider if you survive long enough, but I doubt it.  Sound like a pure out poser, which is fine if thats what you wanna be.   Just pointing out whatever everybody else is thinking and not saying because this is a friendly board.

That being said.. enjoy the new ride, and post some pics!
Non-Rider? What does that mean? Oh maybe it means in order to be labeled a rider you have to do stupid crap on your bike. Oh I get it now. People who obey the speed limit on their busa's are posers, and those who do 30 over the limit, and skip through traffic are the real Busa riders. You couldn't be serious. That's just ignorant. Before you posted that you should have said it out loud and just maybe you might have thought twice. In your case I hope I don't become a "RIDER". The DMV should read these boards and find out who some of these people are, and take their license.

It is not being 100% confident you need, it is once you do ride it, becareful and cautious as well as watch out for morons on the road and then get use to the bike. and Enjoy it.
Yeah I agree with you. People either don't see motorcycles or they hate you and can care less. I'll definately exercise extreme caution when i ride like a "Poser". Ha HA!!!!

You are digging yourself a hole man! People on this board don’t like smarta$$es. By the way you are a non-rider "Topic: First Time Rider :First Bike Busa" you said it yourself. You are not a non-rider because you won’t do stupid stuff. You are non-rider because you have NEVER RODE A MOTORCYCLE before. Also you are a poser. Why buy a busa for it to sit in the garage? Bragging rights would be the reason. "Hey guys look at me, I'm on a busa!"  So you are strong and not worried about the weight. I don’t care if you can bench press the darn thing. Weight comes into play in the handling. The first time someone pulls out in front of you, and it will happen soon, are you going to know how to really get out of the way? I think not. Let’s see how strong you are with a broken arm and a bike on your chest. It’s ok though because you don’t care about money, you can get it fixed if you are still alive. The busa can go from zero to oh sh*t faster than you can think and without warning. With all that said, enjoy the bike, have the dealer rig the throttle to only happen half way, install training wheels, and don’t pick up passengers so you will only hurt yourself. Oh yeah, don’t get insurance so mine will stay at a low price when you crash it. Don’t forget to post some pics.

Even at 10 miles an hour you can get rear-ended or side-swiped by a car.

If you're not interested in pushing the limits, why buy a 'Busa?, that's what it's designed for. Do you just want people to think you can? Save your money and get something less agressive/more comfortable.

Riding a motorcycle "well" is also about experience gained through saddle-time.

By all means get trained, ride carefully AND wear the best armor you can afford. But riding that infrequently may mean you don't truly get a "feel" for the bike's power and weight, which could cause you problems if you have to make sudden maneuvers.

Welcome to the board.

Welcome to the board.  I started out on an 02 Gixxer 600 and am so glad I did.  I don't think I could've ever started out riding on a Busa.  The thing just has too much power, not to mention being a very heavy beast.  To each his own, though.  I just hope you don't regret this purchase, as it could be a very expensive one.
The weight I'm not worried about I used to play college basketball so i'm extremely strong and fit.  The money I don't care about.  If I wreck it, oh well, it just has to get fixed.
You really don't know do ya? You'll see. Just hope it don't cost you your health or worse.

busa does not like standing still 9 months a year
to bad for the busa.  For me its just a trophy. In Boston your screwed for a riding season anyways.  She'll be locked in a cage like a animal for along duration.
You know what, I'm going to be a nice guy and help you out! I'll pay to have it shipped down here when it isn't riding season for you and vice versa. I've actually been able to ride at least a couple of days every month!

Remember, I wouldn't ordinarily do this. But since you're a org member, I'm willin to help you out

I don't think that College basketball is going to help to know how to handle a bike. The only thing that will help you to know what and what not to do is experience on a bike. Whether it's a busa or something else doesn't matter other than the fact that a lighter bike is easier to pick up if it starts to go down and less likely to send you off into oncoming traffic if you give it just a little too much throttle. Once you get this bike, I would suggest getting out to where nobody else is and practice starting, stopping, turns from a stop and all the stuff you'll be doing while riding. Or if you're a poser, (and I'm not assuming you are) you can just practice putting it on and off a trailer.

Would it be illegal to start a betting pool on this board? Basically something on how long the noooob poser will last?
Yeah it's kinda dark and twisted but could be entertaining too, especially with those who forgot to take their ritalin and post a never ending self-justification rant.

There are countless posts in the archives by first timers who have the world by the balls. They get the bike, post like a maniacs for a few days to a few weeks and then all of a sudden they stop posting. Never hear from them again.
Maybe they just forgot to pay their internet bill....yeah I'm sure that's all it is.

Adjust your medication before you ride it. Taste the milk before you buy it.

I found a spot in Milton, MA. called the Blue Hills about 15 minutes from my house that's were i'm going to practice for the whole summer. The next summer 2006 i'll put her in the city. Don't want to be the same guy writing on this board from the hospital cause i'm all banged up because I didn't want to do what it takes to learn the bike first.

That's ok I'll be a poser. I'm fine with that. I want the bike, and that's that. So I ordered it. Doesn't make me any less than you because you ride yours more.

You're missing the point. This is the U.S. and yes you can buy whatever bike you want. Does that mean you will buy the one suited best for your needs? In this case probably not. Hey it's your life live it how you want, but you are not going to convince me or any other experienced rider that college basketball or physical fitness or anything other than seat time will provide you with the skills required to ride safely on a 160hp, 185mph capable bike. Have fun, it's a steep learning curve......

True I won't convince anyone. I don't have to fall into the should and should nots of the bike. I'm buying the bike because of the unbelievable look and feel. Just like most people here on this board. Its just another nice toy. I really appreciate everyones comments and concerns.

Definitely not a first time rider bike. I remember my brother taking off on an old Honda CB350. Let the clutch out, gave it a little too much gas, and his weight pulling back wound the throttle open more til he ran into a tractor. The Busa is no Honda 350. One false move on the throttle that shifts your weight back, you will be on your butt. I'm not trying to sound like an a$$, just giving you a first hand story. If you get it, congrats, but be careful. When it wants to bite, it will bite hard. Good luck and lets see some pics when you get it.

When she comes in i'll be sure to post some pics. I can't wait. Fresh out of the crate!!!!

just the fact that your not clear on what I meant by you being a "non-rider" further proves that your a non-rider.. which is no big deal really..

I was just saying that your talking about things that you don't understand.

Like you mentioning that you like the way the busa looks, and feels.

The looks yeah.. you can rail about that all ya want.. but uh.. what are you comparing the feel too?

The busa feels heavy, low, and wide compared to every other sport bike I've ridden.

just for the record.. i rarely do anything stupider than playing in the twisties somewhat. (twisties in rider speak mean curvy mountain roads BTW)

I rarely wheelie, never stunt, and I have wear more gear than most...

thats what ya need for sure.. good spine protector, boots, gloves, full leathers.. gooooood helmet.

Cuz it's probably gonna be a bumpy ride.

as far as the pool goes... hehe.

nah, I don't wanna jinx him.. we may make a rider out of this lad yet... lets not start him off on totally the wrong foot.
