Fixing oil suckage in 2003 (project for a friend)

I'll get detailed pictures over the next week or so - Anyone has something specific they need let me know and I'll get you pics of that part right away. the frame or rolling chassis (if someone wants) will come with a clear texas title. The head probably needs to be reworked but everything else on the bike is mechanically sound. electronics are good. bike has 18177 miles on the odometer. fairings and tank are in good shape, not cosmetically perfect, but decent. D&D exhaust is scuffed but solid

the welding on the frame came out really nice - engine mounted up no problem.

any questions let us know.

A local guy saw my Craigslist post and offered me a 2003 head off his bike that he replaced. :cheerleader: Not only a super nice guy, but damn.........

I am new to the Busa family. I have to say, I may be thinking they are a step above the Jeep family. I don't know any Jeeper that would give me a head, LOL. I have to get this handled quick. Looks like I leave for Alabama on Sunday for a month. Those peoples problems put mine in proper perspective. Maybe I'll have a functioning bike when I return.

You have PM.

Engine is coming out for the third time today - I should have the new head by tomorrow.
I think I can swap the heads in a day and then it's just a matter of getting the clearances done.

Guess once Dehning's head is put on we'll know if we have a valve guide or spring problem, or a piston problem. I'm ready for a resolution, one way or the other. :drama:

Update :
Cinqo de Mayo 8:30 am
Engine back in - now just need to torque everything and re connect everything and we'll see how she sounds.
Lots of family stuff today so it may be tomorrow before I fire it up.

Son of a B%$*#

New Head, same rattle.

I have no idea what's wrong here... It really sounds like it is in the top of the engine. Could I be off on the timing? would that cause just one valve to hit? (in my past experience it would have made several hit)
I lined up the marks per the manual...

could one of the rods have somehow stretched?

I really dont know what to do here... Jaegermeister may indeed have a pile of parts.

:1zhelp:

Yeah, but we run into a dead end at the case. We don't have the tools and I don't have the cash to just keep going forever. I think the engine has come out 4 times now in 3 months. If we knew exactly what the issue was, and exactly how to fix it, and it was the piston head, and not the bearing or rod, or crankshaft.......maybe. But at this point I am ready to see money coming in instead of paying for dead ends and frustration.

What do you want for the complete motor?

Talk to Jaegermeister - keep in mind shipping will be from south texas. I have no idea what it costs to ship a motor.

The timing change didn't work. same knock. (and rough running) - hey, it was a longshot. at least I tried.

Time to disassemble - I think most of the parts will go on ebay but contact Jaegermeister if you have something specific you want.
