GEN 3 is ON!!!!! ITS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!

I hope this is the start of the teasers but last time I saw that photo, it didn't have 1600 photoshopped on the side. A 1600 cc turbo!! Lets hope. It would be a good time and they would be best to bring on something not just a little faster than the 14R, but a lot faster.

Well it would be keeping with the standard theme of after 18 years that the Nuda concept bike would get some BOLD new graphics.

It's not clear if the forced induction
Hayabusa will get a downsized engine
or maintain the same engine displacement .

If Suzuki continues with an over liter class engine and with turbocharging,
it will directly rival the Kawasaki Ninja H 2 and the over 300 hp Kawasaki Ninja H 2 R .

For me factories don't generally offer fringe market curiosities to the public. Partly because of liability and partly because there isn't much money in it. The closed course clause Kawasaki released the H2R under will work for awhile but that doesn't solve the reality that the H2R is a limited production bike that there isn't a market, or frankly a use for. Bless them for pushing the limits but Frank at Powerhouse builds more capable, less expensive bikes than the H2R on a weekly basis. So what's the fuss all about? Further we need these bikes to come out of custom builder's garages, or the government will put a stop to all our fun. If you have the money, build a custom world killer bike with a talented custom builder.

It's more likely motorcycle manufacturers will do what car manufacturers did. Use turbos to let smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient engines act like bigger, higher displacement engines. If Suzuki plans to find a mass market for a Gen 3 Hayabusa, it would probably be a 2-3 cylinder 850 cc turbo or SC - or stay with a 1400 cc N/A derivative of the current powerplant. IMHO of course.

I think mfgs need a halo unit to keep the brand alive....busa, nsx, h2r, ZR1, hell even the Concord sst, etc. they never make a dime for the mfg directly, but they do get to run on its coat tails.
I agree with u Arch about small displacement turbos would be the most efficient cost wise, but really think Zook needs to go big or go the F home as they did 20 years ago. Especially this time really.

If Suzuki can make a bike as small as a liter bike and with more torque than a busa, that would be the niche that needs filling. The H2 didn't do that. Great looking bike and glad to see someone take the first step but I hope Suzuki can fill the order on this one if that's the way they go. Horse power should be no problem. NA literbikes already are matching the busa in HP. That's why I can't understand why the H2 couldn't have come a lot closer to the H2R straight from the factory.

Agreed, but the Busa is too big a seller to hand it over to a low volume loss type Flagship. Maybe we will several versions of the new Busa.

The look on the OP's face 4 years later from the OP is probably what Arch looked like when the election results came in :)

like Commander Montgomery Scott famously said. "And if my grandma had wheels she'd be a wagon." Invoking my scifi geekness.

wont believe it till I sit on 1.

Walking into dealerships as a Suzuki fan right now is depressing. What they are putting out is years behind everyone else. Like the 250 they just came out with. It's about 10 years late. I'd like to think they have been putting all heir time and effort into a new busa, but I highly doubt it. I do t see the busa as their number 1 seller so I can't see itbgetting the bulk of attention in the R&D dept. I also don't see them coming out with a crazy high HP number replacement as they have the restraints of the corporate world to work in.

On the ukbusas.org site, someone's posted a link but it's for a new range of quad bikes so it's as you were by the looks of things.

I usually hate being the barer or bad news, but here's the message I just got back from my buddy at one of the Suzuki dealers near me.
