Gen 3 Latest report ..

Great minds think alike as I posted this in another Gen 3 thread....pretty decent video.

You made a bike that has performance improvements that are important to the average rider instead of making a larger engine that would loose the bulletproofness and character of the old engine. That was your choice. Somehow Kawasaki made a bike with a larger more powerful engine that didn't loose the character or bulletproofness of the old engine. A lot of potential Hayabusa owners will buy a 14R and that will be their choice.

The ZX14 can't meet Euro 5 emissions and is going to be discontinued.

Just like what was in the video, the gen 3 is selling out, they are having a hard time to get a demo bike...

As a fan of anything Hayabusa, the gen 3 is most welcome.

I really don't think Suzuki could have made the 1441 be reliable enough for a factory bike without it costing a lot more. Not a lot of meat between the cylinders. It may have taken a complete redesign or studs etc..
If they made a new motor then they would have had to make everything new around it as well (frame etc). this was the cheapest way to keep the bike alive, and apparently it worked - everybody wants one, including me :D

A tried, true, reliable platform will go a lot farther for customer loyalty than having a street dominator in my opinion..

The ZX14R is discontinued and did I hear in the video the H2SX might be as well??

To me it looks great, and I hope with a few mods it will be right where the Gen 2 is, or more. I have a Silver one on order.Should go great with my other

I think the 14R will be available in the US for some time but if they're not, that's all the more reason to grab a brand new ZX-14R. I'm glad there will be continued interest in the Hayabusa because I plan to keep mine and build on it for many years but I see no reason to buy the new one.

In re: “A tried, true, reliable platform will go a lot farther for customer loyalty than having a street dominator in my opinion.”

I’m not so sure that’s true. The hayabusa’s rep was built on that exact equation.
It was built on that premise but has evolved to much more....it hasn't been on the top of the hill for years and years yet still sells like hotcakes....people who buy them know they are not the dominate bike...

For instance, when I bought mine I looked at the other brands and could have bought any bike I felt like but always liked the Hayabusa so got one.......and my story is one of many.

The latest generation of Hayabusa is better in every way than the previous generations minus a few ponies which will be let out of the gate when the tuners get hold of it.

Kawasaki won the hyper wars but the Hayabusa will outlive the ZX14...in battle it's the one who lives that wins.

@Bumblebee I bought mine strictly due to size and stability (I knew it wasn't even close to the fastest) I've rode pretty much every 1 litre and 600 out their and they are not comfortable or highway freindly on super windy days compared to the busa. I wish I got a gen 2 I would have had to went out of province and than had it safetied and pay taxes, pick up etc. If I had money I'd buy a gen 3 and throw exhuast and bags and use it for 100% touring and keep my gen 1 for racing and beating on.

Traditionally when you make anything new in mechanical performance be it cars or motorcycles, what have you, manufacturers make more power. Making less HP and torque isn't a good look from a sales perspective. The Suzuki rep tried to make a case for why but I think he missed the mark. I think its more fair to say this is a refresh akin to adding the Brembo calipers to the Gen 2. On top of that, the MSRP went up significantly with the newer technology that was included. I am curious to see what modders do with it.

Based on Akrapovics latest test, the Gen-3 makes more power...
Ha!!
Being a 2nd Gen Busa rider, I hope in a year or two I am not saying I wish I got a Gen 3
Oh you will at some point...
