Was just out in the driveway and one of my neighbors was walking by and stopped in for a chat. he said "what do you think of the new Hayabusa?" I said it will have potential and that it is everything a Hayabusa should be.
He said everything but power...and that a Hayabusa has always had a certain "street cred" and this one falls flat on having that. I mentioned about how I think it will be once the tuners work their magic and he said a bike like this shouldn't be relying on tuners and it should have come from Suzuki ready to throw down on the competition.
But I defended this in saying Suzuki priced the bike in the right way so if an owner goes directly to a tuner and aftermarket, there is a little "fudge factor" to get the bike where it needs to be and still be competitive priced.
He scoffed and said at least he won't have to worry about a new Hayabusa being able to get by his Beemer and with all the electronics, it won't have the edge on reliability and maintenance anymore either.
I did remind him his Beemer cost a lot more than a new Hayabusa so there's that to it...
Sometimes you just gotta shake your head.
I had both gen 14s and busas and test rode a 2020 bmw s1000rr carbon edition this past weekend...14s more comfortable but not as much fun imo ( what do you expect it has a jetski seat ) s1000rr seat is like a rock but great all around bike wish I was 180lbs on it lol ...but in the end it is the busa gen 3 all day and wait till it gets lowered turbo flashed titanium exhaust and bst carbon wheels.... all for the same price as that bmw carbon.Funny bmw s1000rr hasn’t changed much since 2010 since they came out but no one is complaining about them, yea owned 3. So so bias
Sold that baby for the new gen...had 216hp to the back wheel
I don't know him well (just from driveway chats) but he strikes me as the guy who thinks everything he has is better than what you have... I think he likes to always have the latest and greatest...Tell your neighbor us busa boys had a hp4 comp back in 13 that made same power so not really a big deal
It's all good brother I have more fun on the busa but will miss my seadoo seat lol ...imo new busa is the best looking gen of all 4 and most tech savvy and that's what I've been wanting for awhile... its way cheaper then all other bikes I was interested in... made 3k selling that zx14 so can't complain this will be my first new bike gotta smokin deal on it and with incentive to pre order I end up paying like 14k after profit from zx and with over $1500 in pre order swag its like getting gen 3 for around $12500 cant say no to that brother it will be a barn burner for sure after I'm done with her since I saved like 6k right off the top ... I'm happier then a pig in mud... hp is cool but torque is more fun in central Florida not the best roads around here. I'm 6'3 250lbs I will drop pegs get heli bars and a custom gel seat as I did with my other big girls makes a big difference. For that kind of money it's gonna be hard to beat for awhile not paying 20 or 30k on a bike I may be young but not stupid the most I ever paid for a motorcycle was that se zx14r at 10k rode her hard for 2 years then sold it for 13k and got a gen 3 busa for about that same amount and have a sexy new loaded rocket.BusaDawg you shoulda kept your 216 rw pony 14 I'm 6' 3" and never fit well on my 04 red LE, they don't design fast bikes for guys my size So because of the riding position and a major back surgery partly caused by trying to fit into/onto things designed for much shorter guys, I very begrudgingly sold the busa But I did keep my 14 because it's a bike I can still ride... I just have to finish installing the turbo kit I was part way through the install when my back called it quits.
To this day I still miss my busa.... that's why I'm back here lol. But realistically I know I'll never be able to ride one again farther than around the block. I wish Suzuki would make their mind up on what they want the new busa to be, it needs to fit in somewhere. I would've loved it to be gen2 fast with a true sports touring seating position and wind protection, or they should have pursued what made it the household name for speed. I'm not sure trying to make it a Jack of all trades but Master of none was the right choice, because the bike's existence was based completely on being the Master of speed and acceleration.
I found out about the new busa from a friend who owns a new R1, he told me about it because he knows I like busas, but he was also suprised (like me) how they brought it to market like a sheep among wolves....as a brand new model it's going to be the slowest superbike out there. He can't wait to race one and see how badly he beats it... and like the bmw owner above, that seems to be the common sentiment. Not the way a new busa should come out
I've seen a comparison picture of the Hayabusa and ZX14R and the riding position is virtually identical between the two....most larger riders feel at home on either bike....odd that the Hayabusa didn't fit you and a ZX14 did....BusaDawg you shoulda kept your 216 rw pony 14 I'm 6' 3" and never fit well on my 04 red LE, they don't design fast bikes for guys my size So because of the riding position and a major back surgery partly caused by trying to fit into/onto things designed for much shorter guys, I very begrudgingly sold the busa But I did keep my 14 because it's a bike I can still ride... I like that one, very visual lol.how they brought it to market like a sheep among wolves
I like that one, very visual lol.
another big guy here 6’4”, 2” lowered pegs (they do scrape about as much as the stock “feeler spikes” do), a higher firm Saddleman seat, and helli bars then I can ride 1000kms+ days. But then your back surgery might make that irrelevant.
Played with a Panagale past summer and my Gen 2 held its own. I think the Gen 3 will surprise some over confident wolves.
But I understand your statement.
Tetsuo I contemplated putting lowered pegs and heli bars on my busa, but honestly it wouldn't have been enough, the pegs would've interfered too much with my corner carving, and I would've run into clearance issues with getting the bars as high as I wanted. I put Zero Gravity double-bubble windscreens on both bikes trying to get the wind blast higher so I could sit up straighter.I've seen a comparison picture of the Hayabusa and ZX14R and the riding position is virtually identical between the two....most larger riders feel at home on either bike....odd that the Hayabusa didn't fit you and a ZX14 did....
I'm sure @RedBull has that comparison picture handy....
I have always wanted a xr650.Tetsuo I contemplated putting lowered pegs and heli bars on my busa, but honestly it wouldn't have been enough, the pegs would've interfered too much with my corner carving, and I would've run into clearance issues with getting the bars as high as I wanted. Honestly what I was looking for all along was a super fast, super comfy, great handling lightweight tourer. My back was trying to tell me that years before I actually listened
I would be completely happy with a full on sport-touring busa with gen 2 power but the looks of the 3 with all the electronics But I do think the gen 3 is an awesome bike.... it'll be all the bike most will ever need. Do I wish it came with a little more power? Sure, but Suzuki did what they had to do to keep it around And I agree it's going to be surprising plenty of people.... my modded gen 1 suprised me every time I rode it lol. Man I still miss that bike...
And Bumblebee, you have to remember I had a first gen busa and 14, I've never sat on a second gen busa or 14R. All I can say is getting off of the busa, and directly on the 14, the difference was big for me as far as back comfort goes. And I owned my busa for 10 years, at first it wasn't too bad, but by year 10 I just couldn't ride it anymore. I'm not saying the 14 is all day comfy for me either, but I could spend a couple hours in the saddle without being in so much pain it ruined the ride.
Ironically the most comfy bike for me now is my slower than molasses, tractor engined XR650L dual sport. That sit straight up and beg riding position with high bars is heavenly
My next street bike is going to be something similar with a LOT (did I say a lot?) more power.
My riding buddy had an XR650 and it was very dirt bike like-almost too dirt bike like for any road riding. The seat was very narrow and sharp edged and the riding position turned the rider into a sail.I have always wanted a xr650.
On a different note, Wish the Japanese big three would make 150hp+ “adventure” like the Europeans are now doing. VFR1200X was almost there.
That Multi-strata V4 is getting rave reviews, too bad I would need another mortgage to buy it.
