Gen 3 Latest report ..

I have been checking the few dealerships in my area and by dumb luck stumbled on a black/gold yesterday . As I was waiting for the paperwork to be done someone who had travelled for over an hour came in and was told they were too late . Mind you it was almost 100 degrees and smoky from wild fires so I know it wasn't a fun trip . I'm glad I hopped on my 08 when I did . I've only had the bike for a little over 24 hours, but I love it . I know I'm coming from a bike I had for 13 years but I was blown away over smooth the gen3 is. The only drawback is the bike feels heavier on leans and turns, but I attribute that to the stock exhaust . My 08 had a full Yoshimura 4-1,so I just have to get used to the extra weight until I swap out the exhaust . Haven't had time to really put it through its paces but its still in the breakin period anyway .

Got an email from the Progressive Motorcycle shows and read that the Gen 3 will be one of the bikes that you can test ride. So you can at least get a feel for how it rides.
So if your bike hasn't arrived by then you can ride one of theirs. Nice. :D

Called past the local dealer today to pick up some parts. Grabbed these to add to my gen 1 & 2 set. Closet I'll get for a few years.
Local dealer tells me they can't get a firm answer about showroom stock.

First shipment isn’t sold out, 4 orders or so have already been cancelled when that UK bike was making the rounds. I see a couple of dealers have applied for a demo already.

Chris already at the track...
I would say the gen 3 will do very well on the drag strip with all the electronic suite helping it get the power under control.

I'm sure the official Chris Moore Mafia video will be along shortly as I saw his camera on the gas tank

What do you think of the Duke? To me, that's a bike that feels a lot stronger than the dyno says.
One of my more favourite bikes to ride, does the job well and has endless amount of power any and everywhere. More bang for buck over the Gen 3 but can’t really compare it. Also took home a 13 BMW K1300R for the weekend and most say I’m quiet impressed as I never thought about riding or owning a BMW but this one has me second guessing. Nice BMW HP dash and all the optional goodies makes it more fun to ride over the blue K8, not so much over the LE but not even in the same class.

Value for money and a hoot to ride.

A good riding buddy has the K1200R.
It's a nice bit of kit. The front end is an interesting setup. Goes like stink, sounds grouse and goes round corners decently as well.

Yeah took me a little while to get used to the front end with how it feels and handles but becomes second nature. I’m 50/50 about trading the blue K8 for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. There's less of them around and such a interesting looking bike - different. My mate can ride his all day and he's 6'2

I have spent some time on a K12. Not my favorite bike although it is excellent. If I didn't have the Busa it would be great, but I think BMW was a bit confused in putting this bike together. All my BMWs have had the wishbone front end and it is fabulous for general street work. But the big weakness of this setup is a lack of feel. You have to just trust it. That works fine for most street work and separating the turning/braking forces means a hugely stable ride. But push the pace a bit and you find the lack of feel draining confidence. If BMW had put an S1000R style front end on the K1300 it would be a pretty tough challenger for the Busa on a fast touring run. It's still a great bike though IMHO, and those precede the rash of quality failures later model BMWs seem prone to. There is no denying that BMWs have a feel of quality most other bikes don't have.

I have a k1300s with 28k miles and I am getting the gen 3 as well.. will be interesting...

650ib has his...

I don’t know if it’s me but part of it was just him being snobby and complaining about what the bike doesn’t have. Ex. Heated grips, self cancelling turn signals, cheap plastic covered wires. I know he is use to expensive European bikes equipped with all the gadgets. Guess I wanted to see more of his thoughts about the performance. Still looking forward to seeing his luxury upgrades and I’ll stick with Chris Moore’s view on performance.

There's a little of that but the big takeaway is he...
a. has a gen 3 Hayabusa
b. seems to really like it
c. plans on doing some mods to it...
d. said good things about it's performance.
