Ok so we all know theres zero room under the back seat / cowl. Anything more than a pair of gloves is an absolute no go. Have you all come up with anything yet? I dont want to cut and hack just yet. I miss the trunk space though. I will not be lowering it and probably never passenger riding either. I know its coming Im just not sure how to do it yet.

I've looked at lots of pictures of under the seat, and looked at the subframe size on the gen3 I sat on.
I plan on a trunk mod when I buy a gen3, which will be whenever the right deal shows up.
I know I can come up with something.
The only extra part in the subframe vs previous gens is the ABS pump, which doesn't take up alot of room.

That is no where near the rear seat compartment though. That is under the tank and infront of the battery. The only critical thing in the tail section is the tail light and the starter solenoid on the left side.

Even easier then.

There should be enough room underneath to make this area a few inches deeper.
Cut it out, replace it with a deeper box.

I remember my old 02 GSXR750 I could keep rags and honda cleaner with a soda bottle and still fit my gloves in there.

I definitely need something that can hold a pair of full length gloves and zip-out jacket insulation for my spring/summer jacket. I will be lowered and a wider tire, but will swap in a stiffer rear spring so hoping no rubbing holes in the trash can initially.

It appears like the trash can trunk is feasible option although may not get quite the depth as the Gen2... Just not sure how much clearance is under the tail and the tire.

I wish I had a large 3D printer now, although that would take a good bit of time to come up with something, 12+hr prints for a test fit, rinse and repeat.

If anything I will construct from sheet stainless. If and when I do this I will release my plans with dimensions as well.

Might I suggest figuring out how to get a Gen2 hump on there?

JK I think the Gen3 hump works for the look of the Gen3. It was a bold step to shave the hump down but it looks great and it really announces that the bike is the latest!

Of course I have the red and black model for my 2005, I've used this darn bag for 15 years. I'm so used to the darn thing I know where every pocket is at, Holds 20 to 30L. Weather cover and all. Hey a lot of folks don't like big tank bags, but this doesn't feel big at all. I already have the tank protector for the 22 for after I get the painted plastics wrapped with clear. I've had the tank protector, cover, on the 2005 for 15 years, and I swear there's not a scratch from this cover. I take it off periodically to clean it, and put it back on.

This is just a suggestion to trying to manufacture real estate on this bike as I kind of liken this machine to a high-performance supercar. They're not built for luggage, they are built for speed and performance. That's what you own currently in your garages and more along those lines.

Flame me if you like,:fire: but I've been underneath the back end of this bike already installing stuff, it's not like you're gonna put a huge amount of room under the subframe. Good luck to all the engineers.

I would personally like room for a 12-32 ounce water bottle, and gloves.
When I originally did the Gen2 Trunk Mod I could fit a gallon of milk in there, lol.
I later shortened the depth and could put two 32 ounce water bottles side by side.
Which later became perfect as one water bottle and a pair of gloves.
This meant no backpack, tank bag or any bag for short rides.
I normally carry my helmet and gloves, but sometimes would lock my helmet and then gloves on the bike to go into a store, or not out of sight.
To be able to put my gloves and/or mainly just a water bottle on the Gen3, I think is doable.
I will find out eventually.
