got myself in some trouble, how bout some advice?

well before i start, please refrain from comments about me being irresponsible and stupid, i am already aware of the consequences of my actions and would rather not hear how poor of a decision i made, thanks for understanding............

well i was with a buddy last night speeding around town (i had a passenger on my bike) a state trooper pulled up behind us and attempted to pull us over -- he took off so naturally i took off as well..........well i was somewhat unfamiliar with my area (first mistake) and had a passenger who was terrified for her life, screaming and crying for me to let her off, which didnt allow me to concentrate on the road (the cop says he followed me becuz he knew i was at a disadvantage with her) at one point another officer almost turned in front of me (i believe if i didnt have a girl on board he would have tried to make me hit him -- they threw out spikestrips at my boys bike one night goin 140 and he didnt even have a helmet) well they followed me for a while and when i slowed down quite a bit to get on a sharp interstate ramp to cross the state line, he pulled up beside me and then got in front so i was forced to stop -- they booked me into jail on misdemeanor flight to avoid and misdemeanor willful reckless driving.............

now, im on basic probation cuz of an incident last year, and im hoping they dont revoke it so i hafta do the rest of my term (7 months in jail)......hopefully they can just bump me up to intensive supervised probation or something, but then again these are still TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS, not like i was doin drugs and failed a UA......and i know ya'll have some experiences with running and getting caught, what do you think will happen when i go to court (ill get a good lawyer) will i just get a hefty fine or will they take my license (for about the last 2 1/2 - 3 years my driving record is very clean) -- think ill be able to keep my license? what have you guys seen / heard about? thanks for any advice..........

I would expect the worst and pray for the best. Definitely get a good lawyer cause those charges are not just traffic charges, they are criminal misdemeanor charges. I would think you'll probably either get your probation reinstated or do some minimal time. I'm no lawyer, that's just what I think from what I've heard over time.

I know it's harsh to say this but if you ran with a passenger on the bike with you, you should get the book thrown at you. Risking your own life is one thing but doing it with a girl on the back with you is 10 times worse. It's not just a TRAFFIC VIOLATION.

sorry dude, you may be aware of the consequences after the fact, but when you were on the bike - with a passenger no less - what in the hell were you thinking?

so it was a traffic violation...it's a bit of a different degree than simply going a bit over the limit, no?

You shouldn't be worried about how easy you are going to get off. You should be thankful you didn't kill the girl on the back who was trusting you with her life. Then you would have been up on involuntary manslaughter charges.

I would say all in all you got off easy even if you do 7 months in jail.

You are probably in some serious stuff. and as much as I hate to say it, because I don't think you deserve to get off light, but shid happens, not like I haven't done anything stupid. Heck I have done lots of stupid things. So with that said, here is the best advice I can give you.

Sounds to me like you need to find the best fricken lawyer you can get, plead insanity, plead peer pressure, offer to go into the Marines, something. But Yeah, I agree with the lawyer thing, I don't think you stand a chance of not doing jail time without a lawyer.

If it were me? maybe get a lawyer, sell the motorcycle and make the judge aware that you have sold the motorcycle, show him the sales receipt, offer to have some kind of stipulation that you wont buy another motorcycle for lets say 3 years or something.

Fall on the mercy of the court, even if you don't realize you screwed up, make them think that you realize how bad things could have turned out and you are real sorry.

To help you with that, sit down and make your mind imagine what it would have been like if the cops had pulled out in front of you and your passenger got killed. Or your passenger got killed and you were paralyzed. Or maybe your passenger got killed and one of the cops got killed that were just doing there job.

Then think about how the girls mom and dad would have felt. Think about having to look them in the eyes knowing you killed their daughter. Just make your mind imagine how much worse if could have been.

Write an apology letter to the girl AND her parents for risking her life. Be sincere and show a copy to the judge.

basically grovel dude. And be sincere about it. Any sign of arrogance on your part or if the judge has ANY slight idea you are playing him, or that you don’t understand the severity of this, he / she will probably hammer you.

I have friends who are judges, I have friends who work for the DA, they have seen so much BS, you cant BS them, and if they see no remorse, they will hammer you to make you feel remorse.

As I said, not like I haven’t ever done anything stupid.. so.. good luck with your situation. I am glad I am not in it….

Get the very best lawyer there is i your area, he can help,You will probably pay in some form,either in money or time in jail, but the lawyer will get you the very best deal the prosecuter is willing to offer.As you stated, you had a passenger, this will get the book thrown at you, so expect it.NJ.

as mentioned above, I would also add an apology to the police officers and the court involved. Apologize to the Judge for taking his time to hear your case that was the stupidest thing you ever done (I hope)

This clearly shows that you have no respect for your passenger or her safety. She is scared to death, and all you can worry about is how she is affecting your concentration.

Be VERY glad that that wasn't my daughter, because you probably wouldn't have to worry about the judge's ruling. You would be glad to be put behind bars to keep me off of your azz.

Honestly, I hope they hammer you for running WITH A PASSENGER. It's called Wreckless Endangerment". Was she a minor (under 18)? If so, your could be truely fugged.

Take whatever punishment you get and LEARN something from it.

Only I'm not so sure that you would be all that safe from me in jail. I would probably get arrested just to get in there with you. I can't believe you actually expected people here to not be upset and tell you about it. It has been mentioned on here quite often about how stupid it is to run. There is a guy on here selling all his stuff just because of a traffic violation, and you want to find some way out of it. Have some integrity and own up to your crime and face the consequences. IMO they should take your license, car and mc. But hey, I'm a #####.
