ok, so, i decided to pull the trigger and get that beautiful white Busa! i called around a few dealers for the white color and found one. i went in last tuesday to check it out. i loved it. that was the first time ever with a Busa up close and personal. it looked sharp with blue accent. felt the heft standing still. but, i expected that.
the windshield had a lot of scratches, for a new bike on the floor. also, i am bit paranoid about getting a bike from the showroom floor, as a ton of people would sit on it, try out the clutch/shifter and stuff. so, the sales person promised that he would get me a bike from the warehouse.
the next day, the bike from the warehouse was brought in. i went in checked it out. it was spotless. the windshield had no scratches, the way it should be. the bike had no blemish of any kind. i was hooked and gave the nod. the salesperson commented that the showroom floor bike had been sent to a different store (the dealer owns multiple stores in the Twin Cities area).
on thursday, i went in for the paperwork. after everything was done and dusted, i requested the finance manager if he could help take a few pictures. after taking a few shots, i started to look at the bike closely, admiring how sharp it looked in white. then, my eyes latched on the windshield. and, there were those scratches! the same set of scratches that i found on the showroom floor bike! upon closer inspection, i realized that it is not the bike i saw the previous day; but, instead it's the showroom floor bike that i did not want!!
so, to make the long story short, they shown me the bike i wanted; but, sold me the bike i did not want! bait and switch!! that's a low!! the finance manager said that he would sort things out with the sales guy on saturday, as he was off on friday. i was scheduled to pick up the bike on saturday!
i went in with a friend, assuming things would get sorted; and, 'my' bike would magically be discovered! nope! the sales guy offered all kinds of lame explanations. offered to replace the windshield with an aftermarket item. the bike was filthy! a layer of dust all over the bike. the view mirrors were all spotty and dusty! i was really pissed! i've had it! told the sales guy that we were gonna have lunch and thing this through. called the finance guy and asked him to cancel the deal!
the sales guy sent me a strange mail that night stating that the bike wasn't the same and apologized! did he acknowledge that the bikes were switched? i didn't care! i got screwed anyway! the same afternoon, i was told that my MV was ready to go; all fixed and back in shape! the problem was with the fuel and possible water vapor. they pulled the plugs out and cleaned and stuff. so, i was back riding again!
so, my experience was bad! my Busa encounter was limited to taking a few pictures, standing still! now i have decided to wait until early summer. the season is out anyway. if there are ridable days (like this weekend), my MV is ready to go! i am gonna get the Busa, as i am making plans to attend next year's MotoGP at Indy, riding it!
thanks for listening! :-)
cheers.
