I'll let Six respond, but for me it is because they just feel better in my hands.

This^
They feel better in my hands too.
It's their tapered shape, it fits my hand better, and they are a medium gel, not squishy or rock solid.
I have them on my DRZ400 and Raptor700 right now, and had them on my last 3 sportbikes.
They come in open or closed ends.
I have bought closed ends in the past when that was all that was available, and cut the end open with a razor blade.
With the bar-ends on you could not tell.
Shop around too.
Normally they are $10-$12 a pair...but I paid over $45 a pair for a couple sets out of Europe during covid, as nowhere else had them then...and I was determined to have what could have been the last couple pair, lol.
If you look closely you can see how they taper in diameter.

They should be at least optional equipment. My V1 has saved me thousands over the years.
I had a V1 from 2003 thru 2021. I saved me thousands in the Vette though I did get popped a couple times... once by oncoming CHP inside a line of cars going the other way... a crown Vic with no roof lights. I got a half strength alert and slowed immediately... 71 in a 55... long story short... I did trial by written declaration and got off by using "Ticket Kick" ( now merged with some other ticket fighting entity ) Ticket Kick wrote a 7 page site specific defense for my ticket and that ended that one. The fine was $450 because of my CDL.

The other time ( Halloween weekend going to NHRA in Vegas, 2008 ) was on the backroad a half dozen miles from Nipton Rd and the -15 just south of the Nevada line. It was a Park Ranger in a pickup sitting about 30 ft off the road with is lights off. My Hellas H4s picked him up at a good distance in time to slow from 98 in a 55. However, I thought it was just somebody parked in the dark and of no consequence. Got a dose of instant Ka band when I was close and before I even passed him he turned on the red and blues so I stopped. The Ranger told me the fine was $375, however, he said I was polite or whatever and said I can pay $275 giving me a break and it won't go on my driving record... Well, the didn't go as stated... it still went on my driving record.

I have received a couple of other speeding tickets over the years and used the Trial by written declaration with excellent results both times.

I sold that detector for $100 after 17 years and bought the new V1 Gen 2... Will see how that goes.

Thanks for the detailed response and pictures. I think ill get some. I was looking at the “grip puppies” but I think these will be better.

Right on
The 761's are cheap enough to try.
I wear xl gloves, but the GripPuppies make the grips feel too thick for me personally.
I also prefer the shape of the 761 vs any completely round and straight shaped grips, they just fit my hands better.
The 1k I ride doesn't have them, as my friend who owns it doesn't like the 761's(and his hands are bigger than mine), but I notice and dislike the stock grips Every ride.
The 761's are a Big difference to me, and, come to think about it...I guess that is why all my bikes had/have them, lol

Already ordered a Battery Tender (arrives tomorrow) and Yoshimura Fender Eliminator (should arrive next weekend). They were trying to sell me the only Yoshimura Full Exhaust they had, but felt the need to ride it completely stock first. Should also get the license plate this week, so things should be in order for a good ride next weekend. The fun has begun again!
Love my Yosh AT2 (if that's what they're trying to sell you). Great looking and a lot cheaper than titanium, but do be aware that it is loud. The Brock's system will be even louder, I think. If you get the ECU flashed by Moore Mafia, you'll be really happy with the power, provided you like the grunt to come on the left end of the power band. If you want max power at high RPMs and you don't mind moving the band to the right, get one of the larger diameter pipes. With the AT2, if you get it flashed from Chris Moore I recommend mild pops and bangs. It's perfect.

Think someone may have posted a similar shot before, but found this dash image interesting. For those curious, the bike is garaged. It does match the conditions outside though, so that's a plus. Didn't get to see this last year as the bike was torn down.
