So im sitting at work this morning, and one of my Chiefs comes up and points and laughs at me telling me that i have to go to refresher training for on base use of a motorcycle. "No biggie" i think to myself. I could always use a little time off of work to sit with some fellow bikers. Then he tells me "oh yea since you drive a crotch rocket its an all day event" ..... I'm reall pissed now thinking that there needs to be a specific training because i ride a sports bike. Then i start thinking about the FU*&ING IDIOTS that have cause this training, and the fact that i have to sit with them instead. Big NAVY says they're looking for my reaction (the mad one) to put pressure on those idiots.

man that sux, today was frustrating for me as well, found out promotion isnt coming and really because stupid **** from january last year. what sucks more is that the person bringing up the issue is the same one that was laughing and spewing even worse commentary

seems like a good day to vent and generally just F' off as much as possible...

Just gotta remember that its just one small obstacle in life that you can either deal with or find a way around. At least you get a full day of riding

I don't miss those days at all... and I really hate the fact that "crotch rockets" require different training.

Squids are responsible for the bad press on sportbikes. A few ruin it for the many. Just remember, That which does not kill you makes you stronger.

Not just the Navy, Army's doing it also. I have to sit it on the same thing on April Fools' Day.

I am in on post housing today watching animal control and a MP dealing with a dog issue and here comes a gixxer ripping past about double the posted limit of 20mph, kids everywhere. Talk about fast braking.

I'm just interested in why the opportunity to learn more about riding safely upsets you. I have been riding 43 years and I'm still learning

Well, you could look at it this way... it IS refresher training! I took the safety course 5 years ago and am thinking about taking the advanced course. I wouldn't mind borrowing a smaller bike for that though! And mostly because I have too much money in mine!

Sorry to here, but I don't ride a crotch rocket.........I ride the badest "SPORT TOURER" the industry every created.

From what I'm gathering, it's not the fact that he has to take the class, but the fact he has to take it with squids that don't want to listen, and will make the class unbearable with their stupid questions.

I'd imagine they wont have many stupid questions, just a lot of bitchin cuz they are squids and know it all already

I dunno but its been said . . .
Air Force wings are made of lead.

I dunno but I've been told . . .
Navy wings are made of gold.

As far as the 'special" training goes,
as long as its not on your time there
are worse things ya could be told ta do.

Its been a long time ago. 1983 to 87 but when I was in the Corps I had a Goldwing. I know kinda odd but anyway I remember having to go to all the classes and actually enjoyed them. I took a few of the advanced riding classes set up by the state of Cal. that I took on base. The thing I hated was that the mentality of the Corps was very negative about bikes. They made it really hard on bikers period. Having to wear those stupid reflective vests etc. I remember an assembly we had for something were in a room full of people all the people who rode bikes were told to stand up and then the rest were told to take a good look at us cause some of us were gonna be dead by the end of the year just because we rode bikes. ... I see things haven't changed much. too bad.

Not much has changed in that regard.. we still gotta do the safety course, wear a reflector vest, full gear when riding, but now they come out with something new.. every unit has to have it's own bike club. If you own one, you must be in the club. This goes either way depending on which unit.. in mine it was nice as our Sgt Maj road so we would take a friday off and ride down to Myrtle from Jacksonville.. but some other units, it's more annoying than anything else. I think the Marine Corps has realized that we're gonna buy the bikes... so they're trying to find better ways to support it (bike rally on our base a year ago).. no telling what the future holds.. and I'm not sure what the other services require.
