Handling Question - First Time Busa Rider

If it has battleaxes on there take them off and burn them... actually do a nice burnout first. Im a new busa owner, had them on there, my friend said get rid of them they suck. I needed a new pair anyhow... WOW WEEE WHAT A NEW BIKE. far as im concerned... they are W-O-R-T-H-L-E-S-S

+1 stock tires suk! I put on a set of Michelin PP2CT's and made a huge difference.:welcome:

Thanks again for all of the welcomes and feedback. I took a look at the tread last night and the tire (as far as wear) is fine. I think (like every other bike I have ever bought) that the stock tires are not exactly showcasing her best handling characteristics.
I'll take it slow and easy and she will teach me how she likes to be ridden!:mwink:

Welcome to the org. You'll find lots of good folks on here and a very friendly atmosphere!

I see you are in Portland, eh? I am just up the road from you in Olympia. Here is my suggestion to learn proper techniques and improve your riding skills. We have a riding school at the portland track (Portland International Raceway) on July 1st. Sign up and all you have to do is show up. I'll help you prep your bike and walk you through the steps to getting on the track. I can't guarantee I'll be your instructor but I will get you preped for the ride. You'll have your own personal instructor for the entire day. You will most certainly leave with greater knowledge and riding skill.

Check out the website: "Sullivanraceschool.com".

Mike Sullivan who runs the school happens to hold the record at PIR and is a great guy. Give it a try! Guaranteed to have tons of fun!

If you need tires, you can get them at the track at a discount with free mounting. You'll find great deals there. I always try to discourage michelins on the track. Fine for street use but I don't recommend them for track use. But it's still your choice.

Feel free to PM me if you like!

Go to first page in this thread, see white busa, i have stock tires on it, Bt-015, they was working pretty good.

I feel more resistance than any of my other bikes. It feels like the bars want to turn "into" the direction of the turn. In other words you lean left and the bars turn left.

That is normal at low speeds with any bike. You only initiate lean by pressing in the direction on the lean.

If you are in the Portland area, then come across the river, take SR 500 toward Battle Ground, past Battle Ground take Gabriel Road toward Yacolt, from Yacolt goe towards Amboy and then back to Battle Gound and back to Portland.
One of the best 50-75 mile loops that a person could hope for and smooth and safe to really get the feel for the bike.

I might have to do this one on Sat!! The weather is supposed to lighten up (finally).

Coming from a BMW the handlebars on a Busa are similar to clip ons. You don't get a lot of leverage to countersteer at slow sppeds. You have to reacquire how to pilot this bike if you're going to carve corners. Wardie

Dr. ! Consider coming to the Busa STAMPEDE down here in Reno at the end of July....refer to Busa Stampede in the Get Together section of this .org. There are a considerable # of members in your area that are getting together for the ride down. Raydog
