Harley's '05 LE Busa Rebuild

Been putting a ton of miles on the bike since it has been back up. Absolutely love how the bike rides now, super comfortable, the added power and sound make it incredibly addicting.

On the negative side, here was the results of an excursion a couple weeks ago.

Kristen and I were riding back up north on I-35 just south of the KCIcon project in Kansas city Monday September 20th around midnight. We were in the right hand lane just where Highway 71 merges with Interstate 35. All of a sudden we hit a pothole that felt like you could hide a child in it. Normally I feel I do a pretty good job seeing them but this was an unlit area and I was paying more attention to the traffic and temporary traffic control devices for the lane shifts. It rocked my wrists pretty good and I knew that a hit like that wasn't going to be good. We were in the middle of the construction zone but the bike was tracking straight. I thought I had lucked out.

We went over the Paseo bridge and out of the construction. I weaved back and forth to see how the tire felt, felt fine. However once I exited at the next exit (approximately 1 mile) I could tell I was wrong. As I slowed I could feel the tire was going down. I decided to limp it to Kristens, about a mile maybe less. As I started rolling slow I could tell the wheel was bent. When we got to her place we found the damage.

Called Smithers Customs the next morning, he had a wheel in stock. Steve took care of me once again, $225 cash for the wheel, mount and balance, swaping rotors, and installing bearings. The wheel is just all black so it doesn't match my existing LE rear but I'm not tripping about it right now as I still want to do a Gen II front end swap this winter.
