So a few updates...
Firstly, i have dropped off the frame to be short necked, im hoping to have this back by the end of November. I have also ordered a custom swingarm from DME which will put the bike in the range of 67.5 - 72.5 inches, this will hopefully be here by the end of the year, however I think current build times are approx 10 weeks.
I stripped the motor down completely a couple of weekends ago to inspect the bottom end, all is looking good here. As a couple of guys above mentioned I wouldn't be happy to run the existing bearing shells so took to working out what I required, the shells I ran in the motor last season were the original shells that it came with from factory so I wanted to start fresh.
I gave the cases and crank a good degreasing as I will with all parts as I reassemble, due to space restrictions.
I then installed the new crank main bearings and plastiguaged as well as plastiguaging the new Big end bearings.
All clearances sitting at 0.002 - 0.0025 which I have been told is acceptable for turbo application. I appreciate this is also personal preference.
So bottom end is ready to go back together, I'm just waiting on some assembly lube to arrive.
I also dropped off the head to the machine, they are going to remove and install 2 new valve guides on cylinder 1 and then re cut all valve seats and lap in the new stainless APE valves. they are also going time-sert a couple of the engine mounting threads as the previous owner of the head managed to chew these up slightly.
Once i get the head back, i will re build with Viton valve stem seals, Heavy duty valve springs, and APE titanium retainers.
Thanks for watching. ps this is my first time stripping and building an entire motor myself so please don't be too harsh
