If the front end is already coming up, DON'T CHANGE THE GEARS! That'll only make it worse and more dangerous. Apearently no one on here knows how the street race sceen works if they're all sayin to go from a stop. Make sure you have plenty of blockers behind you guys so you don't have to worry about traffic. I don't care what anyone on here says. . Even if you were at the track, you still run the risk of him getting loose, breaking something, etc. and running you over. Being on the street doesn't reduce that factor at all, it actually helps you out cause you'll have more space in between you and the car. Granted, you don't have the EMT's and all that there, but let's face it, the guy can drive the hell out of that car. He never once got loose in that vid. I think you'll be fine. But since you said the front end already wants to come up, don't change the gears or else you'll be on your ass the second you nail the throttle hard. Can't wait to see the vid! Not sure how close it will be, but it should be a good/fun race. Good luck!
Bout damn time another street guy chimes in. And I would still swap gears, you just need to learn them first.
i honestly dont see how he is going to get 700+ horsepower to hook up on normal asphalt, beside the fact that it is light azz cobra too boot, i mean are you talking roll from 50 mph for a 1/4 mile or maybe more, i could see him getting you in the longer run maybe but not a roll on in the 1/4 just my:2cents:
Have you ever been to any street races? We put down track stick at the line and we dont have any problems with high horse cars hooking up. And the cobra isnt a light car a civic is a light car.
I doubt its going to be some great racing video. Ill probly some grainy dark video that you cant see anything but taillights. Should still be fun to watch tho. I'd just rather be there watching.

+1 on the cobra not being a light car. And qrychefanus if you don't think you can get 700+ hp to hook up on the street from a roll, then you just plain don't know how to drive a car, or what kind of tires to be runnin. . . Of course you can't hook if you dump it and floor it in 3rd gear, but did you watch the video posted earlier. This guy knows how to drive. Downshift, blow horn, ease into the throttle. Just like doin a standing start on the busa. Dumping the clutch and snappin the throttle back will do nothing but burn the heck out of the rear tire. You clutch it and roll the throttle. It's the same Idea on a high hp car.

Oh, you also must not have read the previous posts. It's gonna be a roll from around 40-50 and goin up to 150. I have a 98 mustang GT and the gvw on it is 4500lb. . . A civic or integra or something like that would be a light car. You can take a civic, build it to about 350hp and run with a mustang pushin roughly 550. I've seen it done. I was in the mustang.

Am new here, so I am not going to give any opinion as to wether I agree with this or not. But I am curious how you get a City permit to shut down a section of freeway, for what they would think is a bunch of hooligans trying to hurt themselves. When I was a kid, I skateboarded, and it took an act of god and congress to get permits just to have a skateboarding demonstration/competition. Not to mention providing paramedics, emts, etc. So is there really a permit, or is that just something these guys added to the video cuz they thought it would keep them out of trouble?

Dude, I hope you represent, cause I think that he's lying about the RWHP on that car....I mean if I had some juice, or a gearing mod, I might not tell you everything.....but I would race ya. I don't know about this....I think he is looking for some more film for himself. To be honest, I hope he blows the bottom half up while he's running you....that would make for some great video!

that would make the 3rd time the cars been blown up.. ive got my 40rolls down. there will be other cars there too so it wont be just me running. ill post again saturday night and let everybody know how it goes. video should be shortly after
