I've got to agree with BigDawg. I remember seeing some kind of video on Snell testing and there was no grading scale that you speak of.
Each test was either pass or fail, there was no scoring involved like in car crash testing. Without an actual score, you can't say one Snell helmet is better than another.
Now I wouldn't entrust my head to something with only a DOT rating. The DOT rating is applied on "good faith" from the helmet manufacturer. They just have to say their helmet meets DOT specs and BAM it's done. At best the DOT does a once in a blue moon random spot check of a helmet already on the market.
