Here is the first Hoon thread (I think):
https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/general-bike-related-topics/108606-your-mods-rock-ours-suck.html
Hey at that time I was the only one here with a "HOON" decal on my bike.
I have a brother in law who lives in Adelaide, so it is quite a joke between us.
Here is my quote in that thread which I still stand by:
My own perspective on Hoon:
1. A “Hoon” is a term for someone who should belong on the track, but he is on the street.
On the track, most of his behavior is acceptable.
2. The Australians have been Hooning since the days of Mad Max, circa 1979.
3. We all have some percentage of “Hoon” in us, or we would all be driving Vespas.
These bikes are not designed just for transportation, but for a lot of other reasons.
4. In some measure, the authorities everywhere don’t mind the idea of a “Hoon” as long as the hoons don’t get caught, or don’t do it in the open. – Do it somewhere else mentality.
If anyone really did care, they would surely outlaw for the street, things like hayabusas that will do hyperspeed, for that is illegal everywhere except the Autobahn .
Hey BA lighten up.
It is just a joke - the whole thing centered around a stupid word.
