How is everyone enjoying their Gen 3?

I enjoy the hell out of mine now that Ive spent 20 grand to customize/race it

Love it! It’s my 12th motorcycle and best so far, the cruise control is so nice and so are all the electronics. Very comfortable for a sport bike but I did add a taller windscreen, bar risers a drop pegs. Only con I have is quick shifter sometimes hiccups between 2nd and 3rd, no other issues.

I love how easy she is to ride in traffic. When it is busy or you are not in the mood you can drive her like a car - low revs, leave it in high gear, plod along. She is great to commute on. Same as ticking off the motorway miles. Just does it. No fuss. She doesn’t egg you on to be an idiot like my last bike did (V4 Tuono Factory), but when you want to play she is a great bike to ride hard. And the way she just effortlessly plies on the speed… Acceleration on her is addictive!

Downsides are more nitpicking than anything else, and may well be down to the fact that I’m only just coming out of the run in period. I’ve had a few missed shifts with the quick shifter. Only on the odd occasion.

Not as much feel form the brakes as I like, and compared to my GEN2 after I modified them with lines, fluid and pads, but that could just be a modern bike thing with abs pumps and more lines and fluid in between pads and lever.

Coming off a V4, the inline 4 sound doesn’t have as much character, but then that is to be expected. The Yoshi cans at least makes her sing to the best of her abilities. But she makes up for that with the induction roar which sounds great.

Fit and finish is good.

The big tell for me on how much I like a vehicle is if I name her. The Aprilia never got a name in two years of ownership, even though I loved to ride it. I’d named the Hayabusa riding her home from the dealer. :-)

Now I just need the Auckland weather to warm up and dry out so I can ride her more and not freeze to death or have to clean her each time.

I only have about 700 miles on my 2023 but I went out for an hour last evening and know I looked like a fool under my helmet grinning the whole time. It's my 10th bike and first sport bike after a few Harleys, Yamahas, and BMWs and it's my favorite yet. Want to still up and chill? No problem. Want to really scoot? No problem. Love it!

Slowly making it my own. All mods have been to improve long/er distance ergonomics - ZG double bubble, 1” bar risers, tank grips. I posted my intro a few weeks back and I still feel the same. The bike is lacking in the “raw” department but it has grown on me. Can’t think of another bike I’d rather have at the moment. @3Chorder hit the nail on the head with his assessment. I think I’d be happy around the 200whp mark. I just surpassed 800mi and I feel like the bike is slightly faster than it was new, but not as fast as I would like. Don’t get me wrong, the bike has more power than whats usable in typical street applications however, it just doesn’t put the fear in me like my gen1 did. I love and welcome all the electronic aids but you can tell the bike was geared towards an aging crowd that values balance between comfort and speed. Not a bad thing as I have aged myself but I feel like Suzuki could have stepped it up in the power department. Others who don’t know assume our bikes are still the fastest production motorcycles in the world. Would be nice to be able to live up to the hype from the factory.

I can see all that. I dropped mine off for its first service yesterday and the shop manager asked, "Have you scared yourself yet?" Well, no, but I'm pretty mature... Then he asked if I'd tried A-mode yet... Uh, yeah - I ONLY use A-mode! But like you hint at, it's not a brutal power from the start - you're not going to get whiplash. I don't know, maybe I'm not twisting hard enough? :D But I love it, every minute of it! It's still my fastest bike yet.

In my opinion, the Gen3 is the best looking bike ever. I owned a 1986 GSX-R1100 for 23 years, and only sold it (for more than I paid for it brand new) after riding a Hayabusa, and realizing that I was no longer the fastest on the road. That being said, I do love my bike; But there are a few things that I would change. First, the transmission is a bit clunky. Shifting can be laborious, loud, and difficult, especially with my second "complaint" of the throttle having that space at the top (zero throttle). From what I can find, the only reason for that empty space is for cruise control, which I never use. I saw a video where they installed a different spring under the gas tank, but the video was in Japanese, so am not sure what they did to improve it. While I do appreciate the ride-by-wire features, there is no substitute for the feel that a nice tight cable gives the rider. Shifting smoothly takes a lot of practice. Lastly, the stock mufflers are ugly as sin, and make the bike sound like a vacuum cleaner!

Other than that, the bike is a dream.

Welcome from central Florida.

I adjusted the free play out of my throttle at the grip and it did not effect my cruise control. The transmission being tight may just need some miles plus your GSX-R was 23 y/o so that may be some of the difference you’re noticing. I get it the stock cans are huge and unattractive, I replaced mine with Yoshi slip-ons and they look and sound great.

Haven’t even tried any other modes other than A . It’s a great bike and I don’t plan on selling! Time for power mods!!!

Would not trade it for any other bike on the planet. Also had a gen1, and can't believe how much I normalized how (overly) stable the bike is.

I so highly recommend raising links (which are actually shorter than stock). The bike is now smooth and entirely flickable, and I can't describe how great it is to ride.

I’ve ordered my raising links. Can’t wait to install them!

Are you running stock tyre dimensions or have you changed that as well? Not sure if raising the height of the tyre as well is needed or overkill.

Will run mine with the stock tyres until they are toast, but keen for any advice/insight for when it comes time to replace the tyres.

going to a 44 or 45T rear sprocket really helps the seat of the pants feel without impacting anything drastically, especially if you don't have some obnoxious exhaust on the freeway. Take away the noise from my Arata making it sound like cruising through a neighborhood is wide open throttle on a Moto GP bike, re sprockets is the most rewarding mod Ive done... and Ive done A LOT lolol
