This is inspiring. I hope to still be riding 80!Suffice it to say that I gave it to myself as an 80th birthday in 2022. It now reads about 42,000km.
Welcome from central Florida.
I adjusted the free play out of my throttle at the grip and it did not effect my cruise control. The transmission being tight may just need some miles plus your GSX-R was 23 y/o so that may be some of the difference you’re noticing. I get it the stock cans are huge and unattractive, I replaced mine with Yoshi slip-ons and they look and sound great.
Glad to help, slip the boot in the photo back towards the grip and extend the adjustment knob to your desire. I turned mine enough to remove all the slack, this really improved taking off from stops, makes the throttle feel more responsive. Good luck buddy hope this helps. Thanks for the Welcome, fellow Floridian. So you were able to adjust your throttle to lose that space? Is there a video, or instructions on how to do that?
My bike now has 3500 miles on it, and the shifting is okay; But I would love to ride another one to compare. Perhaps it is just a heavy shift because the trans if beefy to handle the power?
Oh my God! YOU are my hero. I cannot thank you enough! You have solved my largest problem with my machine! Before I even purchased the bike, I noticed that stupid "space" that created a loose and unpredictable throttle, so I thought something was wrong or out of adjustment. So, I walked over to all of other Suzukis in the showroom to see if they had it as well. They did, so I assumed that I was stuck with it like that forever, and bought the bike anyway thinking that I would just get used to it. I never did, and have hated that since day 1. The cure was so simple, and I feel like an idiot for not discovering it myself; But the level of satisfaction that I feel right now surpasses those negative thoughts. Wow. Thank you! Thank you!Glad to help, slip the boot in the photo back towards the grip and extend the adjustment knob to your desire. Hello, what raising links model did you order ? Schnitz, Lucas ? ThanksWould not trade it for any other bike on the planet. Also had a gen1, and can't believe how much I normalized how (overly) stable the bike is.
I so highly recommend raising links (which are actually shorter than stock). The bike is now smooth and entirely flickable, and I can't describe how great it is to ride.
Hi ! Same question, which brand of raising links did you choose ? Not so many choices in Europe, only Lucas but ouf of stock since May. TksI’ve ordered my raising links. Can’t wait to install them!
Are you running stock tyre dimensions or have you changed that as well? Not sure if raising the height of the tyre as well is needed or overkill.
Will run mine with the stock tyres until they are toast, but keen for any advice/insight for when it comes time to replace the tyres.
Yeah I feel the same as you, I don’t like any free play in my throttle, it actually caused me to stall the engine a couple of times taking off before I adjusted it out.Oh my God! YOU are my hero. I also have stalled out twice as well from having that slack! Interestingly, the bike didn't want to re-start after I had stalled out. The starter would labor, the lights would dim, and the starter would hiccup ("AHEM, ahem, ahem..."), fading down like the battery was dead. I had to put the bike into gear, and push the bike forward really hard to reset the transmission before she would crank up. Scared me the first time, because I was unfamiliar with the machine, and was really far from home while she refused to fire up. It took me awhile to even think of tryin that, and I was stuck on the side of the road on a bike with 300 miles on it. NO more worries about that though, with this new throttle adjustment! I rode today with a huge smile, and gave you all of the credit to my friends, even showing them your post. I must thank you again. I like your name 60+. I respect that you are an older man like I am riding a Busa, as I am 54 years old myself. Keep on twisting the wrist, bro!Yeah I feel the same as you, I don’t like any free play in my throttle, it actually caused me to stall the engine a couple of times taking off before I adjusted it out.
The same thing happened to me….. I couldn’t get the bike to start and I was at a light with a ton of cars behind me. First thought was to push start but I rolled it a few feet and hit the button again and it fired. Super strange but I make sure to not stall at a light anymore because of itI also have stalled out twice as well from having that slack! Theirs actually a whole nother thread on hear worth reading about the no restart’s when hot, that happened to me on one of my stop sign stalls and yes with cars behind me waiting to go, talking about feeling like an idiot, the pressure was on then right! One member posted Suzuki recommends twisting the throttle some while restarting to correct the issue, not sure how that’s working because I haven’t stalled since but I think some members said it works.I also have stalled out twice as well from having that slack! I wrote a longer reply just up ^^ a bit but another member posted Suzuki recommends twisting the throttle some while restarting to correct the issue, I think someone else posted it works. I’m 62 but probably look a little older in the face from taking care of myself so well haha and I pulled up to a gas pump one day with my full face helmet and dark shield on and a young guy in his 20s or maybe 30s walked over from filling his truck up admiring my Hayabusa and when I took my helmet off you could see a little bit of shock in his face when it wasn’t somebody his age riding it, I just laughed a little and said fooled you didn’t I! He said yeah but he was very polite about it. He also called it a gen 4 Hayabusa so what does he knows right?I'm still ashamed today of that day when I passed a long line of cars and when I got to the traffic light he stopped me and made this joke. poop figure
