How Many 08 Owers Use Mode Selector

I rode a GenI busa in all conditions with out a de-tuned mode select, why would i need it now on a genII K8 ? R&D could lose this mode select, it should have been more of an option to have it rather then no choice, i would have"NO THANK-YOU" ill pass on it

It seems to make a noticeable diff at or above 4500 rpm's. I tried it in a turn on a hard acceleration, I was at 5000 rpms and went from C to A, and the wheel came up fast. almost pooped

Hi Guys,

Found a use for it on the weekend. Had a mate with a GSX750 K7 try some roll ons with me. Needless to say he was losing badly then I had an idea and dropped into lower modes B & C. He still lost but at least he thought he had a chance

Haven't tried B or C yet, but I have not had any problems, though the biggest bike I ever rode before the 'Busa was my FZ6. Lee Parks' "Total Control" is my bible; I ride hard, but am not into wheelies and smoke shows. I would rather have passed on this feature and saved a couple hundred bucks on the price.

I met an R1 rider last weekend who said (talkin' like he knew) that the reduced power modes made a real difference in gas mileage. I plan on testing that, since I have a long commute, but don't know if I can keep it out of A for an entire tankful. I am a little disappointed in the mpg (mid 30s), but maybe that will improve when the engine is fully broken in.

I played with it once and realized, why the hell would I want to REDUCE my power? If I wanted a slower bike I could have bought.........every other bike on the planet.

Huh, You are kidding right? Man that sounds like bullcrap...Only[ mode C? Never heard anything like that. Read your owners manual.
Dear valkyriemc

No, I'm not kidding.

The manual doesn't say I have to keep it in Mode C, just that I have to keep the engine below 5500 rpm for the first 500 miles and under 8000 rpm for the second 500 miles.

I don't mind sticking with Mode C for now. I'm actually a little afraid of the 'Busa's power.

Is it possible to wheelie in Mode C while keeping the engine speed under 5500 rpm? I've been trying and have been unable to do it. Maybe I can lift the front wheel when I cross the 500-mile mark and catch rev her on up to 8000 rpm.

Dude...you better sell that thing before you get hurt!!!

Isn't that what the throttle is for?  If the switch did something useful like shift the powerband that would be different - on bikes that are very peaky with no power below 7 or 8 thjousand revs I can see the point - but the Busa has enough sensible power from just over tickover I can't see why they fitted it.
I agree 100%. The busa has VERY smooth and progressive power right off idle, and its VERY controllable......if you need a switch to keep you out of trouble in ANY conditions maybe your not ready for this bike? Its not like the busa's a 2-stroke that hits like a light switch

But then again so many new riders just have to have a busa (and suzi knows it) that I'm amazed they didn't nueter it to death like the 06-07 14's

At least when you derestrict the early 14's you get a freakin' animal

i use it when i want to race someone .. start first race in c and see if they are giving it everything , then up to a and blow them away..ahahahah

I use my "C" mode for putzing around town , I figure riding a 115 hp bike is easier on the chain than a 175 hp bike

Used it on the ride home from the dealer and haven't since, don't expect too either. Seems that my right hand controls the throttle pretty good now.

Is there any way to get rid of the button. I know the weight savings is minimal, but that's vauable realestate on the right bar.

Put the key it and turn it. Ride. Rinse. Repeat. Learn throttle management and the modes are useless. What's the point of making the "Fastest Production Bike" into a heavy 750cc pig? It's annoying that Suzuki decided to put a nanny mode on the Busa to protect us from our own ignorance.
