Just take a baseball bat, tell him to give you the $12K or so that the bike will be costing him up front, and beat him within an inch of his life.  Then you can tell him he just experienced his first crash.

Some people have survive so far with a Busa as a first bike, but they ARE the exceptions!

As for cost of ownership.  I tipped mine over in my garage a week ago.  Moving 0 MPH and it did almost $1200 of damage to the plastics (if I want it back to "new" condition).

BTW... I started on a Yamaha AT3 125cc enduro. The first big bike was an XJ550 Maxim that I gave to my brother as his first street bike. My first Busa came after 13 years of street riding. The potential of it was almost overwhelming at first.

Good advice!

When I was shopping for insurance for my first Busa the companies would dang near hang up on me when they heard the first part of Hayabusa.....

One agent told me that on her screen it stated that 30% of them are totalled in the first 90 days!

It is horrible judgement that would move one to purchase one of the fastest, if not THE fastest, production bikes on the planet as a first / learner bike.

Start cheap, expendable and in a vacant parking lot wearing lots of gear!

I started out on an 89 EX500. That bike went down on 3 seperate occasions, once being my own stupidity riding it in the grass.

I've been thankful numerous times I started out on the bike as I've not had a drop since. To go in today and sit on the 500 it feels so small, but was great for learning.

Iwent from the EX500 to a 95 GSXR750, then to the Busa in 04. Even in 04 with my years of prior experience I talked to another Busa owner trying to decide if it was "TO MUCH" bike. In the end I was happy with my decision, but who knows where I'd be both in health and finance if I'd started off BIG.

Busa 1300!

But I practiced on FZ600's, GSXR750's, TL1000R's, dad's Harley, lots of bikes. My "first" bike that i owned was my Busa at age 31.
