How much metal is too much in the oil pan?

It was a clutch bolt grinding on the cover. It never cranked to get around anywhere really. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself..
Someone here said think it was @Kiwi Rider? If you took everything apart can guarantee every oil passage get cleared. So I took it as clean pick up filter and run it. Maybe it blows maybe you should of played the lottery.
 
When I crack the cases apart it's getting dolled up.. just hoping it's later rather than sooner so I can save up enough.

Good luck with that motor, you are gonna need it!
Slapping it back together (without stripping, cleaning, and checking bearings and oil pump etc) and hoping for the best is a lottery, and I really think the odds are stacked against you . . .
but hey, you never know, let us know how it goes.
 
every free metal (even the smallest flakes) in the pan is the worst case.

the - one and only - exception is the very small amount and very thin kind of metal dust you find in the oil after the very first 600 miles at the first oil (and filter) change.

That must have been making a hell of a racket before the bolts totally fell out

but if this shi t happens while higher rpm and higher speed (when the engine´s and wind sound is loud) you can´t hear that
and the huge demage happens within only some 1 or 2 seconds.

so no chance to prevent more issues / damages - the immense poop already happened.

that´s what i allways strongly repeat - like the hamster/mouse in its rotating cage :banghead: -
control the damn ..ucking studs BEFORE any noise comes outa the clutch / the RH motor part.

okay here also - the danger of a loosen stud is always current !

so never never ! care about the milage !

rather, open the cover, pull the studs and control each of the 6 studs one by one by turning em out.
i bet that none of them got thread locker at their outer thread, because the factory in japan never did so.
remember the service-bulletin 199 where suzuki demands that kind of a repair of the suzuki home made fault (at ALL busas from ´99 on and not only at the gen2 as written in the bulletin faulty ).

following this bulletin you´ll never will find that pounds of metal in the pan.
 
Berlin Germany, can't find 1303 thread lock, would you use red or blue thread lock. Also would you apply thread lock to the clutch spring bolt as well as the clutch spring support bolt ,as it only says apply it to clutch support bolt and tighten to 23nm,
