It was recovered today 6 days after it was stolen 15 miles from Marin County ca. in the bad part of Richmond. After 4hrs and $1100 in impound fees I get to finally see my baby again and it been totally molested. The body, wiring harness all 3 key locks gone or totally trashed and has no seat or front fender. I can barely stand to look at it now.
( See Before & After Photos )

Anyone have a diagram of the wiring harness and or the ignition wiring system?
It won't start. They Jerry-Rigged it and took out the inner ignition module,

Thanks in advance.

What a kick in the ball-sack.....

Wouldn't you just love to have a few minutes alone with those thieves....

Man this is the kind of stuff that's hard to recover from. It makes me want to give up this past time. We baby our bikes. They become a big part of our life.

Then this happens. Insurance will fight to give you squat for pay out. You can't find parts very easy if at all. And to add another layer to it. The thieves treated it with total lack of respect. An original copper is worth a bit these days. You'd think it would go straight into a quiet out of the way hole. Instead it looks like they simply joy ride and dumped it!

Just awful to read these. I'm going to call my agent this morning and ask about raising my "replacement" value.

I'm sorry to hear about this, bunch of f-ing dirty bags.
Another bad thing about insurance is when my stuff got ripped off years ago, State Farm refused to pay for the spare parts they took. A set of wheels, seat, ECU etc. That was a kick in the crotch.

As for any insurance you get what you pay for. No reason to fault an insurance company that’s only following the terms of their policy. If someone wants aftermarket bits to be covered it’s only logical that an insurance company would want to charge for that coverage. Replacement costs for a particular bike model is based on the market price for a stock bike.

It’s not the end of the world, you’ll restore it to its former glory no doubt.
All the best for your new project, keep us informed of progress please.
Thanks for the thought, but the cost to restore it is just to high. I didn't have theft insurance and if I did it would have ended up as a total with a salvage title.

I was sure I would never see it again. I assumed they knew what they were stealing?

I'm thinking about getting this 03 with 14k for $6500

I'm sorry to hear about this, Ozzy. I know how it sucks to spend money fixing things that were perfect. That's all you can do though. That copper/silver is worth hanging onto but if it's more cost effective to get the 03, you could always make it copper/silver if you really wanted to.

Man sorry to hear this... was it stolen from your home or from a parking lot somewhere?
from my condo. had to move it for one night cuz of repaving so I left the disk lock off over night and gone. Talk about bad timing. I assumed they had been scouting it out for a long time. But now that i see what they did to it I'm thinking it was just bad luck.

You love my bike behind your 99. We have similar taste....lol.

I've got 16K on mine and it's still cherry. I had a 2nd 03 I sold for a bit less than that about 3 years ago. It was cherry also. Sold it to Blue Bacon here on the board.

Soon, if not already, spare OEM plastics are going to be hard to get.

Sort of a double edged sword.
