I have questions, maybe you have answers. George Floyd & Karma

I guess I should put up a maple leaf on my busa...lol. Makes as much sense.
Actually the Maple Leaf is a well respected symbol around the world.
Example: Students who try to "find themselves" by backpacking thru Europe often don the Maple Leaf as a way of getting hassled less by the people of the countries they are visiting.(even if they are not Canadian) I don't think the symbol from the side of General Lee is quite as accepted.
Rubb.

Like Rubb said, there is a vast difference in perception between a maple leaf and a confederate flag, hopefully you can identify with this difference...

Canada who's maple leaf stood tall in the world during many conflicts and blood was spilled to fight oppression and genocide, whereas the confederate flag stands for what exactly?? Among other things was the right to retain slavery...or oppression of a race in today's society.

Oh and Rubb, it was on the roof of the General Lee.....

I did not mean to imply a comparison...only that since I live in the US and was born here it makes no sense for me to go around with a maple leave on my car or bike. I rarely see confederate flags here in the US anymore. Once in a while I do.

When I lived in Detroit I went to all the Wings games. My firm had a box and I was the only one who would go to the games. Became a fan of the Wings and hockey. It was a really cool environment there in Joe Louis arena. I think they tore that place down though.
I did not know you lived in Detroit (or forgot). Yes the old stadium is gone now. It was the only hockey game I ever went to. My big brother (deceased) took me. I have been to more baseball games than anything. Where did you live there?

On December 15, 1979, three days after the first event held at Joe Louis Arena, the Red Wings played their final home game at the Olympia, a 4–4 tie against the Quebec Nordiques. Attendance at that game was 15,609. They would move to Joe Louis Arena on December 27.[35] The final event at the building took place on February 21, 1980.[8] It was demolished in September 1987.[3] Currently, the Michigan National Guard's Olympia Armory occupies the site. A historical marker is posted inside the armory commemorates the Olympia.[28][36]

Roger that, my bad, I misread....I was thinking about the maple leaf on my bike (and now others) and thinking you meant having them on our bikes as a comparison...

I actually had time to read your entire post talltom and it is indeed anecdotal. However, I did realize what your goal is. You think we need to segregate society. You spent all that effort to give time bound examples which are no longer relevant, but clearly paint a picture of the country you'd like to see, that of a time gone by. Unfortunately for you and those who share your views, no less an authority than the Supreme Court has decided that seperate is inherently unequal, and made it illegal. Guess they're wrong too huh?
In regard to your "broken family" point, there is no evidence at all suggesting two parents are needed for success. Other factors load much heavier on that.
Standardized testing has been shown to be culturally biased for decades.
I wish you had the courage of your convictions, every time I've asked you point blank about your apparent racial superiority views you've ignored the question. And this goes back months, not just this thread. What's wrong? Are you afraid to state your position? I think you're the kind of guy who tolerates black people only if they're sufficiently deferential and quiet. As long as they know their station, and don't aspire above it, you'll ignore them. Your suggestions are patronizing, paternalistic and outdated.
And throwing away people because they don't believe in the same god you do, or have been caught making a mistake? That says a lot about your character as well.
What is the direct question you feel I have failed to answer each time you have asked? Months? Really? I'm happy to address anything you wish to specifically show me.

Good lord what position do you think I am afraid to state?

And I never said I would not honor what the supreme court has ruled on. I merely posed the questions to all of us how well these laws are serving us.

You use the word TOLERATE. I don't tolerate my friends and neighbors because they are black. I love what they represent to the community we live in. I don't TOLERATE black people any differently than I don't TOLERATE any other person. I don't spend time around white people that I think are poor examples of how this country is headed either.

Sort of like how TOLERATE Morgan Freeman? You don't think he's much of a black man. But you TOLERATE that he is.

If you don't think history applies to today's issues, then why do you perpetuate the history of slavery for your present day social injustices? You like to use the parts of history that advances the perpetuation of your "We can't because of the white repression" agenda. Yet when we look at the history that shows us that YES YOU CAN, it becomes anectdotal.

FREE EDUCATION is already in place up to Grade 12 for every citizen of the U.S. What other FREE EDUCATION did you have in mind?

No evidence that a single parent home makes no difference? PLEASE. Yes single parents can make it. But the chances of it are greatly diminished. Show me any data to the contrary.

I guess you missed my point. My point had nothing to do with black and/or white. It was pointing out how rediculas these "protests" have gotten. If you think its a great fuggin idea that they continue on in their present form then go join in. Try not to get hurt by your fellow protestor or the cops or some innocent trying to protect their property.
Go for it. Go march. Go get some justice for george...and while your at it can you pick me up a free TV or nice microwave.
Rubb.
I think the protest will continue until something concrete happens. Also, what else are people going to do? They are out of work or working at 1/2 pace so getting out to the protests has become a social event. Frankly, it's probably heading off a lot of worse problems by keeping people occupied. When people are scared and nervous, a little purpose goes a long way toward keeping the lid on things.

Larry also thinks a lot if problems in the black community stem from single parent homes without fathers. It is about 2:54 into the video.

Still dancing around the question eh? Yes months. I've asked you before in this thread, as with just about every thread we've conversed in and you don't answer, so I'll ask it directly:
Do you think there are biological differences between races which affect their behavior or abilities? Not between individual representatives of races, but across races as a whole?

I was in Detroit from 1985 1/2 to 1987, about 2 1/2 years. I lived for 6 months with my sister and her family in Palmer Woods of Woodward Ave., then moved to an apartment downtown within walking distance of the firm I was working for. Detroit has a lot of issues but those were very good times. I met my wife there and grabbed her and came back to good old Va, lol!

Improving the quality of the free education already offered was my point, but of course, you pretended not to understand that.

You made a claim, (single parent households have worse outcomes) I stated evidence doesn't support that. You then need to supply evidence which does. This is like first day of research methods 101 $hit....

Apparently Black Lives Matter is on Netflix now(in what capacity I don’t know....some doc/series prob).
If this whole thing doesn’t feel a little orchestrated at this stage then God bless;).

Yes from a biological perspective there are differences between races that affect their behaviors and abilities.

I'll do a search and see where you have asked this before somewhere.

I hope that was a direct enough answer for you.

Oh I thought it was evident that I highlighted that our education system has been in decline for decades. You brushed it off as anecdotal.

Yeah so show me the Evidence 101 of the factors of single parent success rate vs Dual parent success rates.

It absolutely was. That is the dictionary definition of a racist. I'm out.

I drew the duck blue because I've never seen a blue duck before, and to be honest with you, I wanted to see a blue duck. That's quacktastic! Quack, quack, quack!

It absolutely was. That is the dictionary definition of a racist. I'm out.
Umm sir. Umm please look of the word racism in a dictionary. Any dictionary you like Post your source that supports that biological differences between races makes it racist. Perhaps its our educational system at work here.

The question(s) you asked me were: Do you think there are biological differences between races which affect their behavior or abilities? Not between individual representatives of races, but across races as a whole?

You avoided including a major component of the definition of racism.

You failed to include: Do these factors make one race superior or inferior? You can't make me out to be a racist because races have different biological makeups. That sir is why they are a specific race. But you're smart enough to know that. Do you really feel our educational system doesn't teach kids to open a dictionary?

@TallTom I don't think you are as bad a guy as we're making you out to be but I don't think you are getting an important point. @Mr Brown & I know a lot about history/racism and I have personally spent a lot of time studying history not to build an excuse but to understand why things are the way they are, both for better and for worse. Being "woke" is sometimes a heavy burden. So why am I not angry about the things whites have done to Blacks? Because I'm not sure if the roles were reversed it would have been much different. People are people and it is amazing the uncivilized things they can do when it's deemed "acceptable".

The problems I have are not so much what whites have done to Blacks, it's that they're still doing and facilitating it. So I'm not looking for revenge, just let's play fair henceforward. That's what these riots are about, playing fair henceforward.

I read a historical book on the "Tuskegee Air program" years ago and there were people at the beginning of that program which stated there was a difference...that was dispelled as untrue. In many cases the black airmen far exceeded their white counterparts.

This is like saying all Chinese people are intelligent or something....

People are people, humans are humans....

….I had to go look at the calendar to confirm it's still 2020...

Those weren't biological differences. Those were culture beliefs. Are the Tuskeegee airman biologically different than the Japanese enemy they fought? Does that make the Japanese racist?

And I know the history of the TA. I used the Japanese as a way to make a point.
