I have questions, maybe you have answers. George Floyd & Karma

Responding officers can’t immediately access a suspect’s criminal history. Think of the timing involved here. After allegedly passing a phony 20, Floyd crossed the street and sat in his car, he didn’t drive away like someone might if they knew the 20 was phony, he sat there. How long was he there? Factor in the merchant calling the police, how long that took, and then the police response time, and believe me, unless they happened to be around the corner, responding to a lowly counterfeit call would not make them break the speed limit to race to the scene. Upon arrival, the merchant apparently told them the suspect was sitting in his car across the street. Again, to a normal cop, taking this case is right up there with accepting a shoplifter’s arrest by a Walmart Loss Prevention agent. Not exactly a robbery in progress. Taking him out of the car was SOP and remember just one cop walked him across the sidewalk, one. What we don’t know is what happened in the back of the cop car before he was removed and placed on the ground. We also don’t yet know whether or not the cop and Floyd knew eachother.
Good man.Thats called open minded thinking. Some are incapable of it;).
More are starting to wake up.

Couple things, being scared of a person bigger than you means you shouldn't be a cop, because you're a coward. If being big is grounds for rough treatment then I guess at 6'6 and 300 lbs I should expect that next time I get pulled over? Fentanyl and meth don't give a person superhuman strength, and the police couldn't know how recently he'd used them. You're not sure if kneeling on someone's neck is a good idea or not? Seriously? At what point does kneeling on his neck no longer become necessary then? When he loses control of his bladder? When he asks for his mother? Or when he fades into unconsciousness?
You're right about one thing, it's disgraceful.
I have to differ with you on all but the last. I didn't say "being scared" but whether a cop is scared of a very large man he's arresting or just cautious, I call that normal and smart, not cowardly. I was much larger than the cop that arrested me and I could see his eyes pop open I stepped out of my Carola to get frisked. It's all the more reason to be cautious if the cop thinks the much larger man is on drugs and no they didn't know what drugs those might have been which is all the more reason to be cautious. If the guy was acting like he was under the influence of something, the cops had reasonable cause to suspect he had taken it pretty recently.

The kneeling on of the neck as a restraint by cops is not unusual at all. It's not suposed to be done and I don't think it should be but it is. The only possible reason to apply that restraint is if a suspect is combative and might be a bite wound risk. I would certainly say if the person becomes unconscious, it's high time you get off his neck. If the person seems really dangerous, maybe you don't. That would be a sticky situation to be in as an officer.

We still haven't seen what happened immediately before George Floyd was killed. I haven't anyway. I saw the cops lead him to the car and then skip to scene three, he's on the road with cops sitting on him. What happened in between? Was Floyd any kind of a threat?

There‘s another video of him in the back seat of the cop car, doors open and blacked out windows so what exactly happened is not shown but a struggle of some sort appears to be going on based on the actions of the cops half in and half out of the open door. Why there isn’t more video of Floyd being taken out of the car by that same camera is unknown to me.

BTW your view that when a knee on the neck of a suspect however violent, might be ok is absolutely wrong, especially when the suspect is already cuffed behind his back and there are 3-4 cops handling him. If a single cop is trying to take someone, not yet in cuffs, into custody all by himself and is resisted, even violently, I can see almost any kind of restraint being valid but (that) situation did not exist. If a suspect is violent he can be hog tied, cuffed behind and his cuffed hands tied to his feet which are also flex cuffed together. There are anti spit/bite masks too. A suspect so restrained has to be carried. He (never) has to have a knee pressing into his neck or several knees pressing into his back until he’s unconscious. You wouldn’t think it appropriate if he was your brother, your father or your son, would you?

The actions of these particular police officers in this arrest have sparked an already active powder keg. This has gone way beyond US borders and is now on the world stage, a real black eye for the country as a whole.

Maybe as a result police arrest procedures will be adjusted. I don't know how much more "big brother" can have oversight as they are pretty well watched now and if a police officer is planning on going "rogue" nothing can really stop that as they are well aware of how the system works and how to circumvent it.

Just like @WuzzaCBXRider said, it was a counterfeit call, it wasn't the crime of the century. Floyd could have been given a notice to appear and sent on his way especially with the Covid 19 stuff going on.

As anyone who's ever been in a physical confrontation knows, size doesn't make any difference. The mist muscled up dudes are often the biggest meowers of them all. Being less cautious around people of smaller stature is a rookie mistake and will get you killed.

Knee to the neck is against policy, that's what got Chauvin fired. He literally was not doing his job correctly, so he was dismissed. There is a reason it's not an acceptable restraint method, likely because it can be fatal. You're a teacher right? You know better than most that the consequences of not following procedures and protocol can be career ending.

As I've said before, nothing that happens in the space where we don't have access to video can justify what happens when our coverage resumes. If he'd been shot during that time, that's one thing. The argument could be made that he posed an imminent threat. But kneeling on the man's neck, in violation of restraint policy, to the extent that he pisses his pants and loses consciousness clearly cannot be either explained or justified by anything we didn't see.

Did the person that happened to get this on camera get a gold medal yet?Is this about a black man being killed by a white cop?Im sure that had happened before. What about all the black males killing each other daily in American cities. It is a case that this particular act was caught on camera?
Seems to me that the Democrats/Soros/other guys at the top that control the media are making Trumps life hell because he doesn’t need their backing so is not following their agenda like the usual sheep.
All this is done to make him look like the worst President ever and it works for some.
I’m not 100% sure if he is part of all this drama show but I’ve never seen the mass media make a Presidents life hell like they are doing with Trump.
That speaks volumes to me.

Did any of the other Presidents use Twitter as much as this one does?

I doubt it but I can’t see why anyone would give a sh1t about anything said on twitter. But if he said something really worth investing time and energy in and was of any real meaning such so that he should be seen as the bad guy then I’m all ears.
And just so you know.....I don’t have a horse in this race.I just go by what I SEE in action. Not what I HEAR or READ.

The ignorance on display in this post is profound, yet at the same time unsurprising. You are using the same tired tropes and misinformation trotted out by people who claim they are biologically superior, the half truths and unqualified statistics favored by those who choose to ignore that the foundation for systematic disadvantage is both deliberate and factual. Do you understand the way your own country works? Because you clearly have a rather tenuous grasp on the history and politics of the US. Either you are intellectually challenged, or you're intent on agitation, and while I thoroughly enjoy a conversation and debate with people who hold differing viewpoints than my own, I don't deal with idiots or trolls.
Have a great day.

Instead of replying and following me around like a little b*%ch why don’t you debate with others on your level and talk about your facts and science.Never had such a big fan:firing:

The first sentence alone made me sick to my stomach.

This whole thing maybe about getting rid of your 2nd amendment.Thats the right to bear arms right?
Think about it......they’ve given a reason to ‘protest’.....knowing it’s gonna get ugly....the national guard has been deployed.
Time will tell how they try to go about it but don’t give it up people:super:

Apparently lots of people, sometimes it seems the POTUS has no filters or anyone vetting his tweets which is never a good thing when you are a leader of a nation such as the US.

OK. So on Karma ...1 yes,1 no, 1 on the fence.
Ok. Got it.
Carry on...

FYI,
The other 3 officers have been charged. The charge against the one with his knee on the neck of Floyd has been upgraded to 2nd degree murder.

Why there isn’t more video of Floyd being taken out of the car by that same camera is unknown to me.
Because that would make it more difficult to select an impartial jury in this already high profile case. The lawyers are witholding it. Our judicial system is a part of civil rights too.

You wouldn’t think it appropriate if he was your brother, your father or your son, would you?
I wouldn't like it but I'd have to see all the evidence before deciding if it was called for or if it was pure brutality.

your view that when a knee on the neck of a suspect however violent, might be ok is absolutely wrong, especially when the suspect is already cuffed behind his back and there are 3-4 cops handling him.
I said the only reason I can think of that they would kneel on his neck was if they considered him to be a bite hazard. I can't think of any other reason. A bite mask was mentioned. Can you imagine putting one on someone who wants to bite you?

As anyone who's ever been in a physical confrontation knows, size doesn't make any difference.
I don't mean to say a small person can't be dangerous but asuming both are equally committed, in close quarters where the big guy can get ahold of the small guy, the small guy is going to lose and lose bad. It's relatively easy and more effective to grapple compared to picking away at a monster opponent. An arrest is not supposed to be a fight anyway. Cops probably are far less committed to overpowering a combative suspect than that suspect is to escaping. That's understandable.

Agree with all you said there and yes I'm a teacher. My environment is a lot less hazardous than a police officer's though (I hope). There are situations where I have bent those rules. I did put a restraining hold on a kid once and it ended up that was the best thing to do because that kid was huge and went right after the other one when the security guard told me to release. I have physically intervened in fights many times. Fortunately for me, I never harmed anyone or got complaints over those situations. What was I to do though? I stopped violence using force. It's against school policy but I believe most other male teachers did the same. It was a rough school.

But kneeling on the man's neck, in violation of restraint policy, to the extent that he pisses his pants and loses consciousness clearly cannot be either explained or justified by anything we didn't see.
I want to agree with you but after finding out what I previously had not known, I think I better see it before I say it can't be explained or justified. As I already said a couple times, a person getting choked loosing consciousness should be a clear sign you better stop choking him. I can't explain why the cop didn't do that. I think it's best to wait even on that one before passing final judgement.

Did any of the other Presidents use Twitter as much as this one does?
IDK. I see tweets from other public officials though if I end up on Twitter for some reason.

Apparently lots of people, sometimes it seems the POTUS has no filters or anyone vetting his tweets which is never a good thing when you are a leader of a nation such as the US.

Trump's candid comments are often boorish. That is unfortunate. What's more unfortunate is that Joe Biden is no better in this regard. Why do we keep ending up with candidates nobody wants to elect?
