I just love this bike!!

Atleast you guys have worthy rides trying to punk you. I had a civic rev his motor at me at a stop light... I didn't even entertain that. It wouldn't have been worth it had I gotten a ticket!

Circa early 1980’s and I am at my peak.
Single, young, prime physical condition and the best thing to happen to Houston and motorcycles. (does this sound familiar?).
Pulling up to stop lights and getting the better of everything that wanted to race.
Sitting atop my Kawasaki 500 two-stroke triple, I knew I couldn’t be beat up to 60 mph.
I was red light to red light all day long.
Then one day I was waiting at a light and what is this to my left. A guy pulled up on something right out of the movie TRON. All dressed in red leathers and riding a red crotch rocket (at this time I didn’t even know these existed). I didn’t see the make but I did see the 600 on the side and knew I could take him, after all I had beaten everything bigger so why not this guy.
We brace up, look at the yellow and our light goes green – Zip Boom Bam we are out of the gate.
Well one of us is anyway – I didn’t even get to 2nd gear before I found myself staring in amazement at this red streak with his front wheel off the ground about 6†and moving like a bat out heck. (It must have been the parachute effect of my mouth wide open that slowed me down) I didn’t even bother trying to keep up I just putted along with my tail tucked and my ego firmly in check.

I told you that story to tell you this one.
Fast forward to yesterday.
On my Busa, DOT is her name, and pull between traffic south on Beach Blvd and Lincoln. I look to my left and see a car pull up and the window in going down and two young things with the radio blasting and they seem to be looking my way when I hear I high rev ut uhhgg. Pulling between traffic one car to my left is a young man on a rocket revving it up and getting cocky. I could not let this happen to me again right? Well I am much older and my ego has subsided BUT when the light changed, DOT said no way is he getting ahead of me. We take off and I can hear him running through the gears and winding it out. I never even hit second and he never had a chance. Then we both notice the Police car waiting at the next light right in front of the Police Dept. We are lucky and he doesn’t bother with us as I pass him doing exactly the posted 45 mph limit. At the next light we pull up and he is smiling and indicating how close that was. Then I see his ride – a 675 Triple Triumph Daytona, I didn’t know these existed.

Yeah I love this bike too.

This is a great thread! my buddy decided to run me in his vette ( has a lil bit of sneaky fast work done to it) i still had stock gears at the time, so i babied it off the line and he knew it was over before i shifted into second. i laughed all the way home. he called me later and asked if i had completely lost my mind. he almost $hit when i told him i walked him in first. Hes a lil crazy, and i expected him to give me a little chase, but gave up at 90.
