Is my tire dead? with pics, need you input

well got back from stealership and got a few surprises

1. installtion of tire was 78$, the guy told me, its only free if you give us the rim, not to change everything

2.I ask if they had in stock a bt56 and and they said yes, well they mounted a bt014, now I didnt know about it until i came back two hours after picking up the bike

is it ok for normal riding, understand mostly commuting to mix a front bt56 and a rear bt014 both bridgesone ??

hopefully I ll get some decent miles out of that rear tire

so total for today was:

tire 166.99
mounting 78
grease and oil ( whatever that is) 7.42
plus taxes....

let me know if all that is decent .

thx

well i just did a search on that bridgestone bt014 and it might be ok as a combo with the bt56 front that I have

so I guess I answer my own question !

I do not see any threads.... you see fabric?  the tire does not look that thin to me  (Pirelli Corsa3 looks thinner than that) and the TWI  (Tread wear indicators) are not showing...   ride it
Are you blind?

you can CLEARLY see where it has gone WAY past the wear bars in the center.

cheers

I think it looks worse than it is. The tread depth looks pretty good on the pics. If nothing else....BURN THE REST OF IT OFF!! ::

Looks like I was too late with the post. You took a rapin' on that tire change. Spend the 90 bucks for both tire changing pieces at Harbor Freight if you have room. It will save you a load of cash in the long run

You can't see the wear bars either?

cheers

I can see them left of center. Not real familiar with a 56 so maybe it was time. Diablos are pretty flat in the center from the start so it would really vary from diff. tire manufacturers. It was his money. Just hate to see someone dragged over the coals when they don't need to be. I wear them to the bars if not slightly further. No probs yet with 38K on the bike and many sets of tires.

i did indeed get molested on the price of getting the tire mounted on bike plus balanced,
oh well didnt have time to go anywhere else or spend more energy in it
next ime I ll know what to do

thanks

That gouge will disappear in a week or so of riding. It's not that deep. And easy on the burnouts. Tire price are up like everything else.

Better to be safe.  Next time you can get more miles out of it by leaning into the curves a bit more.

Call me crazy but I ride the hell outta my tires well past the wear bars. That tire looks like it had a lot of life left prior to the burnout. I would have continued riding it instead of burning out..

that tire is not worn out...nor is it unsafe IMO...

sure replace it if money is of no object but the TWI's are on the tire for a good reason...

a few radial cuts are not going to hurt the tire if they did not cut cords..
